Comment:

Dr. Canary mixes humor into lectures, and itworks! Syllabus and handouts are clear; and he discusses expectations for students and himself. PPs given day before class and both tests had study guides. Always has time for students. Overall, Dr. Canary is one of my top 3, and I am a graduating senior. I would definitely recommend him!

For a communications professor, this professor is terrible at communicating expectations and requirements. It's an easy A kind of class, IF you can figure out what he's saying and what he's expecting you to do. It usually takes several conversations and emails to determine what in the world he is thinking. You won't learn anything in this class.

Looks like the positive reviews were written by someone "academically bonded" to that particular "professor." However, being a student, i can tell you that he is unclear, doesn't care if you do well or not, he doesn't show up on the day of the tests (can't ask questions to the TAs.) He is just really full of himself! + huge research paper :(

I took him this spring. Honestly I think that he really does not teach anything but he just keeps making jokes. And after a while It gets boring. He did not show up at any of the exams, extremely rude. I agree with the negative comments and honestly I cannot see how someone could post a positive review for this professor. This is just my idea.

Decent teacher. Very humorous and keeps class light which is a plus. Disorganized though and is often unclear about assignment guidelines. Has both a final paper and test due at end of semester which can be too much for some people. Also took a really long time to grade assignments. Knows his stuff though and you will enjoy class (if you go).

This teacher is so easy, I got an A even missing a lot of class. Don't listen to the bad reviews about him, because although he is disorganized, he is easy. Heads up though, you will write a research paper but you seriously just paraphrase what others wrote. Additionally, when I did go to class it was really fun.

The fact that the research paper is 25% of your grade is completely ridiculous. You have to read 10 journal articles that are about 25 pages each. There's no hw & only two tests, but you'll wish for more assignments for the sake of your grade. He's fun in teaching the subject but so disorganized that you will resent him for that.

He makes you do a research paper based on academic journal readings -- really hard professor. I am working my butt off, reading all the material off of the book and i am soooo worried about the grade that i will gett in the paper because he grades really hard :(

I took this professor because I thought it would be an easy A, but instead, due to his huge disorganization, and his lack of teaching during class time, it's hard to get in the A range and you need to spend time, a lot of it, studying and reading on your own. I don't mind working hard, but at least I want a professor who deserves my effort and time

Awful teacher.He is super disorganized. The exams are really biased and most of the multiple choice questions have at least 2 write answers all the time. He doesn't allow you to ask questions during exam, and does not even show up that day. He always talks about nonsense for the first 40 minutes of class. I definitely do not recommend him.

He is a terrible professor. The first 40 minutes of class are always wasted by his stories. He does not teach any of the material that you need to know for the exam. He asks students to scratch his back during class. The exams are written poorly and does not allow you to ask questions during it (he did not even show up that day.) Very Disorganized

He is funny. But be warned, he grades a lot harder than these other comments entail. When I asked for help on the study guide, he refused to clarify and told me to read the book on a REVIEW DAY! Overall, easy class but you have to read, come to class and be able to handle his narcissistic attitude!

The class was comprised of two tests, two(2-3)pg Conflict papers,and lots of extra credit.Both tests had at least(6-10)EC questions. Our(15)pg Research paper was reduced to(12)pgs.Two weeks before it was due, he made the paper optional.Dr.Canary played music by R.Palmer and B-Springfield. Dancing & passing out mints was Dr. Canary's calling card.

SUCH a fun class! he cracks jokes all the time and is almost never serious but he is so extremely smart and accomplished its crazy! sooo easy on due dates and my semester he made the final research paper optional 3 weeks before the class was done! hilarious guy, fun class definitely recommend him and the course!

The class was easy but Dan never went over course material he just talked about his past relationships and how he doesn't get along with his step kids. The research paper was easy but it was worth 25% of your overall grade. If it wasn't for in class participation there would be no need to go to class
