Comment:

I loved having Judge Cercone has a professor! His night classes never actually go until 8:30 (rarely ever 8:00). You are graded upon a midterm and a final, and he allows you to write an extra credit paper. Show up to class, take good notes, and study the vocab list he hands out. He adds scenarios to lecture to help students understand the material.

Pretty interesting class if you were already interested in the first place. Judge Cercone cares about what he's teaching. Pay attention in class, and go over notes before exams and you'll be fine.

Pros -Friendly -Easy Tests (no short answer and only 1 MidTerm, 1 Final) -Extra Credit given at end -No Homework -Lets you out early if you take his night classes (never has reached the full 2 .5 hours) - Review Game for Test Cons -Must attend lecture and take VERY detailed notes because it is all VERBAL no Powerpoints Dont need book. TAKE HIM

Judge Cercone is the man! His lectures are interesting because he has so many stories to tell and examples to give. He is the best at Pitt! He literally makes me want to go to law school. Take this man if you can. He is so genuine and he is clearly excited when he lectures. 40% midterm and 60% final. Go to class + Use quizlet and you will get an A!

Comment:

A great man and father figure. Tests come straight from lecture, no book or homework required. Very knowledgeable on the law and gives great hypotheticals. Class had one midterm and a final, both were multiple choice and if you paid attention in class were easy to pass.

Comment:

Criminal Procedure was a simple enough class. Judge Cercone loves to talk so not much participation going on from the students. Show up to class! Grade based off of Two multiple choice exams (which were a bit confusing but I did well) and one writing project (8 page Supreme Court decisions on criminal cases which should be an easy A).

Comment:

Judge Cercone is a great professor. He doesn't use Courseweb at all, so attending lecture and taking notes is essential to passing. The only grades in the class are a midterm and a final, but they are fair and relatively easy if you take good notes and study. Lectures can at times get a little dry, but he is extremely knowledgable!

Cercone is the best! He is a federal judge and is so knowledgeable with criminal procedure. Only 1 multiple choice midterm and 1 multiple choice final. There is also a final paper but it consists of summaries of Supreme Court cases. No book required, easy A.

GO TO LECTURE! The Judge gives a great lecture and makes you not have to read the horrible book. The book is so dry, but Judge Cercone makes the quizzes after what is said in the lectures. He was a great professor, and one I would take again.

I took two of his legal courses--one crim law and the other con law. He was awesome in both. Very knowledgable. I am currently in law school and still find myself remembering the stuff he taught me. Great professor, awesome that he is a judge! Exams easy--multi/essay--similar to law school exams. Take great notes thats all you need for his exams!

Loved this class! He a Federal Judge so he knows what he's talking about. Also, he is really clear with his examples, and has a hypothetical for every question you come up with. Test are straight from his notes, not the book so go to lecture. Always lets class out early!

One of my favorite professors at Pitt! This guy is awesome! He's a judge, so he explains things extremely clear. If you go to class, take notes on what he says, you'll be fine. I loved his class and wish I could take every class with him as a professor.
