Excellent, knowledgeable,and approachable. Seriously, many of the comments here tell you much more about some Chico students than they do about Dr. Jawed. Take a serious interest in the subject, set aside your own biases, be willing to learn from someone with a different perspective, and you will do well. Fascinating man, and a great prof!

NO email!, 5 Books!, scantron for just 8 questions!, 1960s videos that doesn't relate to the middle east anymore!, and oh god, I don't need to mention the grading handout, he is losing his voice and started using microphones. Oh I forgot, since when India and Pakistan considered a Middle Eastern countries? It's because he's Indian born in Paki! DAM

Not a very good teacher. Multiple choice exams are difficult. When over half the class failed the mid-term multiple choice exam he claimed that we did not study instead of addressing the real problem,his exam. Does not work with students and is ready for retirement.

I'll admit that I learned some things about the ME that I did not know before; however, the way it was taught was B-O-R-I-N-G. Even an exchange student from the Middle East did not do well on his multiple choice exam. That speaks volumnes. He is a nice man, but not very approachable. His pro-Islamic views are also painfully obvious! Avoid if u can.

This guy is a complete bore. Nice guy, but a little opinionated. I am not sure if it was just the class (comparative religion hist) or what, but it sucked. He is a little to pro Islam, and anti-western, but what professors are not. I would try to avoid this guy, I just dont think he has much to offer. There are far better professors at Chico. If you are a history major though, you will most likely get him for 190E, just do some reading and pay attention and you will do all right.

He has a great way of teaching religion. He never pressures people to into his beliefs, but exposess them to all. The Islamic religion class was very rewarding, and allowed some light to be shed on situations present in todays society.

Such an interesting topic that is made very boring. He really wants you to understand the fundamentalist view of Islam, something I can't except. Be wary on being critical of Islam, it could affect your grade.

he is a very nice guy but does not speak very loud and his accent makes him hard to understand. The class is extreamly boring and not paying attention can screw you for the exams. A lot of boring reading and exams are hard. I would not recomend this class.

Took the class for req's. He's so intelligent. Very softspoken and I learned so much! His projects seem hard, but you realize they weren't when you've finished them.
