I really do respect this man. His skill in shaping students is unmatched. He may come off as hard/difficult/scary, but he is extremely honest and upfront about the whole process. Indeed, his textbook is also phenomenal in its breath/depth considering its intended level. A really cool professor. I wouldn't be where I am without his pushing.

He is really hard! BUT AMAZING! You start out hating him, and at the end you love him. Yes, he is a hard ass, but i came out of this class with a very strong grasp of physics. Recitation, and class attendance is essential. Very lax on all things, except the tests, which are pretty brutal....

Best professor I've had! His class is hard, but he gives you lots of help grade-wise so that if you put forth reasonable effort, you'll pass. You'll learn a lot but be prepared to work for it. That said, not recommended for non phys majors unless you are very interested in the subject matter.

Ill prepared for lectures. No prepared notes. Winged it. Students who already had an extensive background in physics could do well in his course. Not a good guy to go to for a foundation.

Really one of the best teachers I've had so far. He has a class that will surely interest you if you're a physics person. Lot of libelous comments from people who get disillusioned as to their intelligence tend to hurt his image. This is physics for majors, great course to open ones eyes. Reasonable drop rate for a freshman class.

I have never had a teacher who cleared things up for me better than Dr. Raymond. Every time I was confused (which was damn near all the time) and I asked him a question - it suddenly made perfect sense. If you think you might enjoy it, I STRONGLY recomend the 131/2 series. It's extremely interesting, and he is a great teacher.

I was very interested in physics before Dr. Raymond, but afterwards my previous interest looks like apathy. His assignments and tests are very interesting and his text book, that he wrote, is the one that I still use a year later.

This guy is full of himself. The only reason he's still teaching at Tech is because he has tenure. I found out that about half of his students drop phys as a major. Try NOT to take a class from him.

Not sure who that other poster was...but I have no problems with Dr. Raymond. Great course material, and a pretty good teacher. If you have the oppurtunity and the interest, go for the 130 courses.

Very hard, and not very good at explaining stuff. 130s series courses are an interesting approach, but not taught very well by Dr. Raymond. Stay away from 130s!
