He is tough but I have never learned more from a professor. He is incredible. A lot of people think he is a jerk, he is, but in a GOOD way. He doesn't spoon feed and he expects good work on YOUR part as the student. He gives you so many remarkable perspectives on things that you have never considered. He is one of my favorite professors at PLU.

Do. Not. Take. This. Prof. Take it from someone who's been verbally abused before, he's an a**. If you ask questions in class about your assignments he tells you (and I quote) that you're whining and refuses to help you if you need a little extra clarity, which you will, alot. To his credit, he makes decent comments on papers.

He knows how to help you improve your writing. His comments are valuable, insightful and vague, but they're honest. He will tell you what he thinks, regardless of if it will hurt your feelings or not. His criticism pushed me to improve my stories, helped me see where I needed to more thoroughly edit. All in all, he's a good professor.

Dr. Seal is an incredible professor and a brilliant person. His lectures are fascinating and he has a lot of knowledge to pass on. Listen carefully! His class on Dreams was my favorite this semester. It involved challenging/fun papers to write, but was mostly discussion based. Dr. Seal inspires introspection and imagination, and has lots to give.

I loved him. Those who dislike him and find him an egotistical jacka** don't understand that he is pushing people to see themselves and their surroundings in a different light. He puts his opinions out there because he is seeing who is willing to challenge him and themselves. He is not for the faint of heart but I learned a lot of who I am from him

He was a poor teacher and I left the class with a big fat question mark over my head. He was often rude and I didn't enjoy being in his class. The texts, however, were fantastic.

Comment:
Extremely presumptuous and unprofessional. His stories were inappropriate and disgusting. He was arrogant and if you disagreed with his opinions, you were flat out wrong. He used class time to preach instead of teaching us material. What a disappointment, I had been looking foward to a class on fairytales and fantasy.

Dr. Seal is a great writer and a great critic. Bright guy to say the least. He is, contrary to his assertions, narrow-minded, inconsiderate, rude, degrading, and egotistical. That said, he opens suburbanites eyes. He assumes you are a moron who dwindles away in naievity and ignorance. Argue with him. Show him up. Insult him. Take him.

Perhaps I just let the man get to me, but I felt that Seal was out of line with many of hi comments. I mean I just shut up and let the man pretend he was God so that I could get my grade. But I would never sit through one of his lectures again, unless I am forced. He knows what he is talking about as far as helping you to write better. But he i

He worked very hard to be the "alpha male" of the class and flunked one of my friends because he didn't like him--even though my friend had worked very hard on his short story. After my friend read his story in class, Dr. Seal apologized to the class for having to listen to my friend's story.

I took Dreams and Imaging the Self 10 years ago. I still remember the guy and that is worth something. Both were fantastic. He likes to keep you off balance which for people with open minds is a good thing. He will mention whatever is on his mind, but do you really want a closed up literature professor?

Seal is one of those guys you either love or hate. He is highly offensive for those with weaker stomachs, but is a must for those who enjoy edgy, real-world discourse. Yes, he can be opinionated, yes, he can be volatile, but he has a keen eye for what is important in this world, especially what is pertinent in English. A must!

This professor was EXTREMELY unprofressional in a sexual manner. I wouldn't be surprised if he was stuck with a sexual harrassment suit one day.

True, he is NOT for the faint of heart; but if you can handle somebody who pushes your buttons and is prone to following completely different topics during class because it's more interesting than the original material, then you'll find Seal's classes very, very rewarding.

The class he taught was not the dreams class I thought I had signed up for. However, in the end it turned out to be a positive and unforgettable experience. He is a bright guy and good teacher. He definetely takes some warming up to and he enjoys violating your comfort zone. But, you will learn a lot, not just about the class, but about yourself.

This entire class wasn't even about writing. He spent the entire time trying to get us to discuss our personal lives. If you didn't want to, he penalized you for it in grading. I learned abosolutely nothing about writing OR dreams, but did learn that he is extremely rude and that I will NEVER take a class from him ever again. Arrogant and pushy.
