Pretty boring prof. He is very intelligent but horrible at teaching. Runs through slides very fast and doesn't always have the powerpoints posted beforehand. Doesn't let you view your exams to see what you did well/bad on. Not reccomended.

Very boring. Monotonous lecture that never varies from him reading off the pre-made slides. If not for clicker quizzes I wouldn't have come to class, just study the book and get the TA's to teach you. Nice guy but a bad teacher.

Enjoyed but found the lectures extremely difficult to get through. Monotonous voice and just his manner of speaking is intolerable (e.g. tries to relate biological concepts to real world examples, but can't seem to simplify his language accordingly). Most of my notes consist of "look in text" and the best way to study is to focus on the book.

The worst experience ever, taking his bio212 class online. Required a test every other week. Slow at posting lectures, would post the final 5 lectures days before they were to be tested on. Had a test the week b/f spbreak, 8 lectures to complete during spbreak, and another test the week after spbreak. Very inconsiderate.

Vleck was terrible. He gets impatient if you ask questions. I couldn't attend lecture without falling asleep. His voice is monotone and dull. He was very inconsiderate of scheduling our final, which is to be taken in the online testing center on campus. He only gave us 3 days to take it, 2 of which were during dead week. Avoid this guy.

This class was terrible. Hated every second of it. I'm a senior, heading into grad school and I've been through my fair share of bad classes and I have to admit this was definitely one of the worst. They try to cram so much information down your throat and expect you to remember it. What a waste of time. School shouldn't be about jumping hurdles it should be about learning. Tests are very very well developed; meaning they are next to impossible to guess on. AVOID this class!!!

Vleck was not my favorite teacher but I DO think these ratings are a little harsh. Classes are VERY slow but he is knowledgeable. If it weren't for attendance points I probably would've never come and even as it was I didn't go consistently. I haven't heard anything better from any other 212 instructors so.. it may be best just to deal.

Very boring. Didn't know what he was talking about. Just read the textbook--it explains it a lot better than he does. Asks some ridiculous clicker questions that are super detailed. Long pauses in class to "search for a word" that he was thinking of.

I think he's really good looking. Pretty boring, but he knows his stuff. Very difficult to get a good grade in, but if you try really hard, you'll succeed. Not for people who are disinterested in biology, obviously. Take this class if you like to be challenged, it worked out for me! Be sure to read the book, too.

He seemed kind of annoyed when I asked questions after class, which was a big turnoff for me. He also seemed disorganized and nervous while lecturing, pausing for rather long periods of time to search for words. Overall, his lectures were almost useless to me. If you just read the textbook carefully you will be fine.

Everyone hates this guy, but I think he was great. It wasnt an entertaining experience to atttend lecture, but it was educational. He teaches in an important way, so that students have to actually understand the material rather than just memorize. Vleck was quality.

350 characters is not sufficient enough to describe this guy's level of suckage and fail at life. He has NO personality, speaks in the most annoying monotone voice, can't use WebCT, tries to be funny but utterly fails at it, and talks down to his students. If you see Vleck run in terror and just give up at enjoying life. There is no point.

AVOID!!! Seriously you need to find another teacher or wait until next semester. He talks with big words and flies through the slides. TESTS are HORRIBLE...over material he never remotely mentioned or too detailed. The class average on the Final was a 52%!!!...he had to curve the class. AVOID!

Yea, so worst professor I've ever had. Test questions don't reflect what he teaches. If you have trouble sleeping at night, I suggest recording his lectures and listening to them later. Best part of the class, he curves the 60%s only. They move up to a C, while no one else is curved. For your own emotional safety, get a different prof.!

A good description is "means well". If you're allergic to sleeping pills, and love to hear the exact re-iteration of the book information via powerpoint, topped off with 3-hour labs that mandate 20-page reports, every week, Dave's your guy.

This guy could make skydiving boring. Plan to drink redbull if you even plan to stay awake during class. If you do go to class, read the book while he tries to impress everyone with his enourmouse vocabulary and lack of teaching skills. His study guides for tests are worthless, I mean seven pages for a 50 problem test, who are you kidding buddy.

Hard class made much harder by the monotone lectures and ambivalent attitude towards students. He's probably a genius and can be funny at times but don't expect him to remember you period if you're not in his lab section.

If a professor is teaching at a state university, I expect them to not be a complete retard about the whole teaching process. 90% of the class (not hyperbole) didn't know what the hell he was talking about, and that same percentage did horrible on the poorly written exams. I have gotten some of the best sleep of my life in there, though. A-V-O-I-D!
