He was the reason why I wanted to be a CJS major in the first place. I plan on taking more classes with him! You should take a class with him once you get a chance, you won't regret it.

Graduating from the Connect Program, I had Roderick in Fall of '18. He is comical, implements his verbal and political liberalism in classes. He addresses authentic global, local and societal issues. Does not take attendance, you can not show up and pass but it makes no sense to skip if you are paying for it. His teaching style was not for me.

Roderick is an amazing professor. He cares about the material he covers and is very lenient with due dates. You do not need to get any books for his classes, but they might help you with the final paper- the "hardest" part of the entire class as he requires a 15 page paper for each of his classes. So don't take two at the same time!

He is the cutest, sweetest man you will ever meet, he is so knowledgeable and actually made me want to minor in crime and justice. He is so easy to approach, talk to him about anything! He goes over all quiz and test material the day before and gives 1-2 writing assignments. Attendance is not mandatory but I suggest it because his classes are fun.

Dr. Roderick surely knows his stuff. I took his 350 drugs class, probably the most interesting class I have taken in five semesters at UMD. Roderick is clear and easygoing. 2-3 short papers (3-4 pages) and the infamous 15 page final paper, but it really isn't that bad. The papers are fairly easy and attendance isn't mandatory, although it helps.

Great teacher. Enthusiastic, funny, and down-to-earth. Really cares a lot about social justice in America (or lack thereof). Be prepared to write a lot and critically think, but if you put in the effort you're guaranteed an A.

Dr. Roderick is an enthusiastic, warmhearted teacher who puts no pressure on his students. Quizzes are multiple choice; we barely used the textbook except for one paper throughout the whole semester. Relates concepts through engaging anecdotes about his life and work in the criminal justice system. Highly recommend even if you're not a CJS major!

ABSOLUTLEY love professor Roderick. Not only is he my advisor but hes an amazing person. Very driven about his topic of discussion, he gets a bit distracted and we end up talking about other things but he never failed to allow me to leave his class unsatisfied. we had 1 paper 5 papges in the beginning and a final 15 pg paper which wasnt to bad.
