Professor McGough knows his stuff. I took Prof. McGough for Irish American History. The first week or two are difficult because he has an Irish accent but by he third week you get used to it and can fully understand him. He is very understanding but his test (only midterm and Final) are based on what he talks about in class so you must go.

I really enjoyed this class. Although the material can be difficult to grasp at first (what can I say--Irish history is confusing!) the professor was excellent. I think the best part about this course was that I got a sense that the professor sincerely cared about the students and did all he could to help. He is such a sweet man!

He is a great teacher. I am Irish and still had a tough time understanding him but he repeated anything he was asked to by the students. Take him, take notes and do papers and go to class. He is worth it

This is the least pretentious professor in Queens College. He doesn't really grade on participation or attendance and is generally a very fair grader. His accent is difficult to understand so the book is a must but he teaches right from the book so it's not like your missing anything. Tests are essay format and there are 2 papers

Nice guy but boring class, unless you are already interested in the subject. Come to ever class and take good notes and you will do fine on the mid-term and finale. There are two Papers 3 pages each and as long as you make it 3 pages and hand in on time you will do okay. Do all of that and it is an easy A.

Still the best professor in all of QC! Challenging course, (get all the notes if you miss a week) but SO educational and fun. A lot of notes in the lectures but the classes fly by. He more tells the story of Ireland than just teaches a class. Enthralling, helpful, fun, nicest guy you'll ever meet, cares so much and gives his all.

A brilliant professor who is obviously passionate about his topics. He is very fair with assignments, accepting the first paper up to 3 weeks late for some students. His teaching is balanced; he takes no sides in the political arena even though he lets you know his background up front. Highly recommended.

Prof. McGough does his best to help you succeed. The class is not too difficult and you are not expected to just memorize dates. He even takes suggestions on his lectures! He gives reviews before tests and does not expect anything too difficult. 2 tests, two papers.
