Comment:

Dinah Dodds was an effective teacher. I especially liked how she broke up class into various activities. She was very nice and has high standards. She encourages everyone to be a German major and to go to Munich. Munich program is fantastic, but I recommend a double major, or at least that you have something else going on besides German.

Comment:

Professor Dodds is an ok German professor. She didn't particularly engage with me, nor should she be expected to. After all, I was just trying to get through the language requirement. It wasn't as if I was there to enjoy the class. Her grammar program is strong, but other than that lessons are pretty par for language classes.

Comment:

She is serious about German. If you like it, she likes you and gives you (at least a good shot at) good grades, and is friendly with you. Take the class. If you're just a passing interest or gen ed requirement -- avoid at all costs! Once you admit you're not a German major, don't expect a good grade or a good time. She is vindictive.

I went to Scotland with Dinah for the 04 overseas program. She's great! I've never seen her angry. Sometimes her assignments are dumb, but her personality makes up for it. Tells great stories.
