Stays true to the syllabus' schedule. I had this on T/TH and only held class on one of the 2 days, so basically its a once a week class and sometimes you don't have class at all that week. His tests are super straight forward as long as you read the study guides, i don't see how people didn't get an A with all the information he GIVES you on the SG

Second time taking a class with Ed. I'd avoid him if you can, but if you're in graphic design, you might not have a choice. If you are experienced in any programs, don't work ahead of him in class; he will get upset. He also seems to have much more experience with older versions of adobe, which can be very unhelpful.

Ed is someone you will absolutely have to take at one point if you're a GD major, and beware it. He has a terrible memory and will take it out on you and your grade, doesn't really listen, especially if you're having any technical issues, and overall isn't very helpful or constructive. He's just kinda watches you while you figure things out.

He makes videos for you to watch on certain days (no class actual those days) and then does reviews on them. Those reviews can be pretty boring as well as the videos. My advice is to find a pdf of the textbook, ctrl+F the terms (I only used the actual book for the pics), skim through the videos if you really need to, and study a decent amount.

Ed, was one of the worst art professors I've ever had. He is there to teach an entry level Photoshop class and I have not learned anything. I've had to look up everything in order to turn in my projects. Half of his classes are spent critiquing and his critics are the most cliche and arbitrary critics. His class in pointless. Take someone else.

I feel as though he is a medium-advanced level user of Creative cloud, but he is a tutorial teacher. He knows enough to teach students who are brand new to the technology, his taste in art is very very specific. His attendance policy is absurd, he allows you to miss "3 days", but half of his class days are required!

Ed doesn't teach. On the first day of class he told us, "I'm not here to teach you, I'm here to help you find online videos to teach yourself." He even records videos of himself to show you how to do things. Don't be late or miss class or you will fail.

This dude seriously loves to hear himself talk more than anything. Most of the stuff he talks about ISN'T EVEN RELEVANT. He does not take walking in late (even if it's one minute) lightly WHATSOEVER. The lectures are all online and a lot of them have little to do with testing material. There will be clips that aren't even on the test.

Motion Graphics is required, and can be fun! Ed definitely has his quirks but come on, who doesn't? He teaches you the basics of After Effects and crash courses on various softwares for video editing and that is the reason for taking the class to help yourself as a graphic designer. He does that, so I feel he's a pretty good teacher. Grades easy.

Class was surprisingly interesting, but should've been online. Ed turns all of his lectures into videocasts that he plays during class time and asks questions during. Read the book and use his website/study guide and you'll do fine. Very structured and very organized. Definitely has his opinions about what he likes/doesn't like in design though!

Ed is a simple man. ATTEND HIS CLASS. Missing his class is a huge deal. However, if you are respectful of him, he will be of you and you will enjoy your time in his classroom. He is a funny guy who looks out for those who respect him. The best part about Ed is that he pushes you to want to be even more creative.

This guy dabbles in web and is a copy/paster when it comes to coding. He doesn't understand the correct ways to do things, doesn't understand the new technology which makes it instantly "buggy" in his mind, and is useless for pretty anything but making pretty pictures in Photoshop.

Seems like a nice guy but as a graphic design professor he is really lacking. Not sure why he isn't teaching printmaking, as that is what he actually went to ECU for. Lynda.com is mandatory for classes because he doesn't really teach you much. He rather waste time with in progress crits EVERY other class giving mundane, hardly thoughtful insight.

worst professor I have ever had, if you can even call him that. does not deserve a teaching position in graphic design, let alone tenure. he reads free online tutorials verbatim because he doesn't know the material. and don't expect him to help you troubleshoot, because he doesn't get it. avoid motion graphics, you are just wasting your time.

Ed needs to update himself on technology for someone teaching a technology class. He likes to hear himself talk. Every other class was a critique. I learned nothing in this class and wasted a lot of money on matting and prints. This class is required for BFA's, so I would take it in your first year. Try to take it with another professor.

Ed can be late(and will be every day) but if you are then watch out! He is too fast, wastes all your class time and is only good one on one. He is a relic of the past and can't realize that technology has changed since the Apple II. He has something to offer if you can do 99% of the work out side of class and do EVERYTHING his way.

Well, lets see... Don't EVER be late to Eds class, don't expect to learn a lot from him, he knows a lot but won't go out of his way to teach you. First thing learn what style he likes in art and copy it, or else you'll probably just fail. beware, seems like a cool guy at first this ends quickly. he is very negative and seems to hate teaching

Ed is stupid. He needs to shave his big wooly beard. He is always jacked up on coffee and half the time when you ask him a question he dosent know what your saying because he is so tweeked. He is ignorant, never helpful, and i hate him with a passion.

He really has a hard time slowing down when he lectures. I do not think it comes from being excited about the materialâ€"I actually think it comes from him knowing the material in-depth, therefore he zooms through it and then proceeds to feel as though each student got what he "explained"...Lynda.com is required...LYNDA.COM SHOULD TEACH THIS CLASS!
