First, let me say that Senora Komar was put in a tough position because she had to take over half way through the year for another teacher who quit. But many students were frustrated with how she would explain a projecthomework assignment, because she was very confusing. And then she would get SO upset if we asked her to clarify.

You NEED to know how to understand and listen to a native Spanish speaker, because she REFUSES to speak in English. She's pretty funny though, as long as she is in a good mood. Beware though, she is easily pissed off. Especially by those who do not follow directions or do not do homework (which there are a lot of). Good luck. Buenos Suertes

Wonderfully nice teacher. Great communication, very helpful, and an all-around good person. I definitely recommend this class if you want to get used to hearing Spanish at a native pace. The workload isn't that bad and it's a very welcoming environment.

Great little lady. Very easy grader, just show up to class, do most of the work and you'll be fine. Sometimes a little unhelpful, but overall great experience.

If you speak up in class and talk to her, she likes you. Unfortunately, Im shy, especially in spanish, so she seemed to call on me a lot in class. Shes intimidating, but a good teacher, and shes willing to help as long as you ask in spanish.

Elena Komar gets angry at ignorance. She does not clarify many things and then makes the students feel unwelcome. Many days she is in a bad mood. As a person I am sure that Senora Komar is wonderful but as a teacher she sucks. She has in no way improved my Spanish and has infact intimidated me into a state of Spanish-Depression. Avoid her.
