He is an interesting character i would agree but he is out there when it comes to teaching but it may be a bit welcoming considering most teachers rigidity. I had him for labor eco and it was informative but his reviews really arent worth anything tho just look at the book read over the notes for the little details he throws out there.

He is very entertaining but hes kind of mean. Not very patient. DO NOT PICK OR PLAY WITH YOUR NAILS IN CLASS..i did and he told me to stop. lol his reviews are worthless..and even if you think you do good on the tests...you probably didnt. He was my worst professor this semester.

I enjoyed the lectures. He is animated and somewhat entertaining. Pay attention or you will be called out. Whatever you do, don't bite your nails or talk to others during the lecture. He goes ballistic. I would recommend this prof over others. I have heard the other profs for this class are much harder. Huge generation gap in lecture material.

This guy IS a little quirky and loud.TIPS:Don't interrupt him, don't talk to your classmates during lecture, read the chapters & don't ask stupid questions or he will call you out. This class was tough and I didn't understand most of the material, but I tried, read, studied and cooperated in class discussion and made a B even with 2 Ds/1 C on my tests.

He is a hard teacher but if you listen to every word he says and read the text book then you'll get the test. His test are worded like the way he speaks (Like an Economist). Take notes and read! Highly advise record lectures that realy helped me and I hate economics!

Take him during the summer its the only way to make it through his "interesting" personality. He is very intelligent and knows his stuff but can be annoying. I made an A and learned a lot. Not a class for people who don't want to try. Not my 1st ECO choice

Professor is a bit extreme. Glad I took class in the summer. Will randomnly call on people. Gives review for test that are sometimes unclear. Watch bits and pieces of movies that relates to subject being taught. Does not curve on tests but will curve at end of semester. Ended up with a letter grade better than what I actually made.

This class was fairly easy. He writes lecture notes on the overhead and its hard to read. He goes over the same material several times so if you miss you can catch up the next time. You will take like 5 class periods to watch "A Beautiful Mind". Test are fair just study your notes.

Professor Newman is by far the easiest eco teacher out there. he does repeat a lot but that is because that is what the test is over. took him for micro and managerial decisions both easy. he likes basketball if you want to get him off topic.

He stinks! If u r over 40 or love eco take him. Uses big words that most ppl have never heard of. He repeats himself ALOT, but in 10 diff ways. Very unclear what will be tested. Only 3 test. Review conist of going over EVERYTHING fast. NO Xtra credit. Will make u look stupid if you answer wrong and randomly calls ppl out in the beg them picks favs

I took his class over the summer. Newman really sucks! He writes everything on the overhead, and is really hard to read since his handwriting is very poor. Not very clear on what is on the test. I had to drop the class about three weeks into it. I ended up taking Welch and got an A. His jokes are stupid, and constantly calls on people in class

Fairly easy class, just don't talk during class if it's a smaller class, he'll get all grouchy and embarrass the hell out of you without warning.

this class is an easy A if you pay attention in class and can get over the fact that his jokes aren't actually that funny. he is WAY into economics and goes into a lot of detail about everything he teaches. didnt use the book too much but it comes in handy for tests.

Newman is the best Eco professor out there! I don't care for Eco too much but he presents it in such a way that it's interesting. He is very passionate about Eco and has an abundance of energy! His energy turns a dull subject into one that is much more interesting. He also ties Eco theory into real world examples. A Beautiful Mind! Keep it up

I just started this class as a summer session, but it looks like it's going to be extremely difficult. I agree with what someone else said about picking favorites. He already calls on people from his previous classes, or people that answered one question right, and keeps asking them. I guess that's a good thing for some.

Newman is an economics freak. He loves economics. These other people who have posted in here must've been idiots, because his class was (BY FAR) the EASIEST I have EVER taken anywhere. He teaches the tests, and even gives you a PRACTICE test. There is not much reading, and very very very little studying. As I stated before- easy A, or you're dumb.

Rest assured that if you have any questions or answer an inclass discussion incorrectly, he's going to make you look and feel like an idiot. If you anticipate difficult in economics, do not take this professor. Though he is entertaining, he does not know the first thing about teaching.

This class is extremly boring but it is not the professor fault. He trys but it just doesn't work. Just try to go to class and take notes. Anything that he keeps repeating is important for the test. The tests are very easy.

Newman was one of the toughest prof.i have had yet. If you dont have a stong background in economics you wont do good. it is also very difficult to take notes in his class just because he switches the slides so much and so fast.
