DO NOT TAKE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TO! She is not specific in what she wants to be discussed in papers. She expects you to write your papers based off of HER books, so if you do not write your papers EXACTLY how she likes it you will not succeed. You also cannot leave out ANY detail or information on her test or papers or you WILL LOSE MARKS.

Thoroughly enjoyed her class! She is a brilliant woman with much wisdom to share. She is a tough grader but if you put in the work it will pay off. Overall would take a course with her again, but probably cant as she said she is retiring soon...

She is one of the smartest prof's i have had at the university. She is a tough marker, but her marking has actually made me a better writer overall. Her class is super interesting and you actually learn a lot from taking it. You write 4 papers w/ class material. No tests. She announced she was retiring, so take her class before she is gone.

Great prof and really interesting class. Shes a tough marker and you dont see it coming. You may think you did really good on a paper and you get it back and youre shocked. Would take a course again just be prepared to read and work hard

Gave terrible feedback on essays, had no clear view on what she wanted from assignments until after students handed them in. I had no confidence handing in papers. She's passionate but does not write down any notes, she talks all class, so if you zone out for a minute you are screwed. Dropped my upcoming course because I knew she was the prof

great professor but be prepared to type/write your notes at an extreme speed! I took sociology of the law with her and it was really interesting but difficult and requires a lot of effort to keep up, don't skip her class and make sure you participate!!

I was in Sociology of Law and it's a more difficult course for the most part and you definitely have to work for the grade but it was very insightful. Focused on class bias in the law, gender bias and race bias in the law. It is a good course if you enjoy writing essays since we had three- one which was assigned instead of having a final exam.

Awesome prof. Tests are fair and quite straight forward if you attend class and write down notes of what she is saying. Makes understanding theory as simple as it can be. Great prof, super nice person, definitely recommend taking her locating law class. Btw the book for her class is in the library so you don't need to purchase it at the bookstore!

Comack is a really great prof. Very knowledgeable. A lot of readings for this class and a lot of essays (no exams). But the content was very interesting and Comack has done some interesting research that she incorporated into her lectures.

First prof in my school career that actually felt like a teacher. Clear outlines, helpful feedback and she genuinely cares how the class is doing with the material and their comprehension. Very helpful.

Professor Comack would have played a really good Professor Trelawney in Harry Potter! But on a serious note, she's nice and helpful but is also a difficult prof. Hard class but doable.

Awesome prof! Knows her stuff, tests are difficult, but not impossible. DO THE READINGS. Her lectures are basically just a condensed, simplified version of the readings so if you have already read before class, you don't have to struggle to keep up with the lecture and only have to write down what wasn't covered.

I really respect Prof Comack, she is brilliant and a great academic. The material is very interesting, critical but that is the point, and a little dense but she breaks it down during lectures. I will note that it is a tough course so plan for that, do not take an abundance of difficult courses and activities along with this class.

I'm a 3rd year crim honours student. Failed her first mid-term that I thought I did good on. Hardest marker I've encountered. A lot of writing. She lectures with no notes or points on the board, if you lose attention for a minute, you're screwed for the next five minutes. If you can handle it, you can, I personally can't.

+10 years since I took her courses; both Soc. of Law and Women, Crime and Soc. Justice. I had no interest in either critical crim. or feminist theories of anything until I met Liz Comack. Her influence changed my worldview. It changed my career choice. It changed the way I do my job each and every day. I am male by the way.
