Pretty interesting class overall, she expects you to do all of your work and come prepared. Isn't too vigorous either, if you make an effort or ask for help you'll get a decent to good grade. You cannot expect to pass if you miss class and coursework consistently. Sidenote: Great feedback, will help you improve your writing and structure.

Dr. Garvey is a horrible professor and I regret taking this class. She wears her PhD on her sleeve, plugs her own works to the class, and is extremely disrespectful toward her students. I was supposed to work on writing prose, but I felt like my writing worsened. She assigned 30 assignments throughout the course of the semester. Just don't do it.

She's horrible, she gives to many readings. She's feel because she has a Ph.D that she's superior. Unless you have great time management and love to read go for it otherwise I wouldn't suggest her class. HATED IT AND HER. Hope I never have her EVER AGAIN. Hope she reads this so she gets a reality check for herself.

This is probably the worst class I have taken so far. She is a very rude woman and her expectations are VERY high in a way that is almost impossible. She will pin point everything she feels she doesn't "understand" which means its wrong in her eyes. Wants you to make connections but skips around in the syllabus. VERY hard to please.

You'll buy a lot of novels,and write a lot. She isn't as bad as everyone thinks. They aren't research papers so you just have to apply yourself and watch your grammar. Way too much work but she tries to be upbeat and creative. It is actually a good class.
