Comment:

Yes, she can be a sweet lady but that won't get me into the nursing program. I feel that this class is disorganized. I haven't learned anything that I didn't already know. When asked a question, she has no answer. She just doesn't teach well at all.

I don't know why everyone is so afraid of Emily. She is the sweetest lady ever. As long as she knows you are trying on your own too, she will help you out as much as she can. And she really isn't that bad for testing, unless she can tell you haven't practiced, in which case you deserve to fail anyways! She does reward the students who practice.

Pulled out of retirement to fill a last-minute opening. She often was confused and forgot things she told us to do. She back-tracked quite a bit and was extremely picky about minutiae. Nice enough lady, but GVSU is better off with her gone.

Had her in 2004 and can't believe she is still teaching. As a critical care RN, Emily does not have a clue about teaching future nurses. She was always rude, condescending, and self-righteous. I'm not sure the last time she was ever at a pt's bedside. And let's thank God for that!!

I think everyone rating Emily badly, is because they do not try to have fun in class. Our class was willing to participate and we had a great time in her class. I had her in both seminar and lab and she was an amazing professor. She is older, but has a lot of examples and knowledge to pass. She is an awesome and fun professor.

I like Emily, and everyone in my class feels the same way. She's helpful, and she may be old but she knows her stuff. Nursing is hard anyways, she just is preparing us for what we have to look forward to after we graduate.

I agree with most posts here also - very boring, class is a waste of time, but it's easy - I think she just wants to relive the past and be able to tell stories...let her - as long as it's easy, who cares - there are plenty of tougher classes to keep us busy.

I do see what people are saying, but I think deep down she's a softy and just wants everyone to pass and learn. Yes, borring, Yes, very unclear at times, but I think she has a good sense of humor and having her as a professor is no death sentence.

Not bad, but not great either. She is very slow about teaching and old fashion. Class time was a waste, and she didn't make it fun to go. If she doesn't understand something, neither are you. If you ask her a question and she does not know, she will blow you off.

Emily is a very stern instructor, she is very into the old way of nursing. She makes you feel stupid when you ask her questions. Aviod taking her...her time has pasted and she needs to Retire already. She doesn't care at all for her students. Her letures and seminars are very boring and long winded

Simply don't like her. She thinks she's the s*%# and its annoying. The College of Nursing at GVSU is great but avoid her as much as possible! IF you must take her, just get through it and forget about her, don't let her get to you.

I left KSON and Grand Valley because of her. The final straw was telling some other students and myself that we couldn't study together for test out in CHS, she went on to tell us that if we weren't ready by then "we wouldn't pass anyways"!
