I can not believe Farid Islam is still at this school. I had him over 10 years ago. Every student even then knew to avoid him like the plague. But unfortunately at the time there were classes that were required that were only taught by him. I had 3 A's 1 A- and a F that semester. The Dean had the F changed to a C+. Avoid this guy at all cost

Confused and not clear, makes errors in class, says something but means another, will try to cover up mistakes or blame on you not understanding, does not seem to know what he is doing, I do not know where he is now, but not recommended.

Farid can be difficult at times. But as long as you attend class and participate in the discussions, you essentially have a guaranteed "A" in the class. He does tend to stray in the lectures, but he doesn't have a SINGLE EXAM in most of his classes. He almost grades exclusively on essays.

Awful Professor. Very difficult. He gives you study guides with the questions on them, however they are always different on the test. he made many mistakes on the tests, but would refuse to change it. DO NOT TAKE HIM.

I took 3 courses with him. If I were not graduating this summer, I sure would have taken other courses from him. And you guessed it right - who would do that! He is knowledgeable open-minded and willing to consider a different perspective. He helps you understand. My experience? It has been incredible! If you want to learn, take him and find it

He is a great teacher who is caring and is open minded. He appreciates differing views from student with high respect. I really liked this class and recommend it to other students. I am appalled by the negative tone about the professor. I disagree with them. Students do not be misled by such comments, as I was. Try him and make your own judgment.

This professor is very friendly and likeable. He does tend to stray off the subject a little, and you'll probably have to do a teeny bit of textbook reading, but the assignents are easy as are the tests (as long as you do the reviews). The textbook is VERY easy to understand...I really liked it.

His tests are crazy, he lacks good communication with his students and there was a lot of confusion. His tests always had mistakes on them. Hard to understand his accent at times, difficult to listen to for more than forty minutes.

Lectures were random and rarely stayed on point. Tests were memorize and regurgitate. Test material was not covered well by the professor, and test questions were different than study materials.

He was totally unwilling to own up to mistakes he had made on the tests. He tried to joke with a quiet student all semester, but it came across as very disrespectful and rude, the exact opposite of what he claims to try and act toward his students. I can't decide if there is a cultural barrier or if he's just plain clueless, but he is a rude man.

What the other posts have already said are true. I didn't really learn much in class because it was hard to understand him. The hardest part was that he changed his mind all the time. He would say the quiz was due and then it was a different date. The only thing that helpped was looking at the past tests he puts online. Take someone else

What an absolutely ridiculous teacher. Can't write in english at all, and unfortunately he writes his own tests! I emailed him about a test date and he responded that the test was W-S. I went to take the test on Saturday and it was no longer available. He had changed the test date to T-F. When I showed him the email he said "SORRY!"

i just had this class last semester; the previous comments are pretty much accurate. Take him only if that's your last remaining choice. However you are going to feel you'll never love going to class ever again.

Speaks English fairly well but has really thick accent. He'll gladly repeat/write words you can't understand. A quiz is given in testing center after each chapter but come straight from practice tests. Memorize those, you'll be fine. Always errors on exams, though. Go over them with him! must read book! Homework easy: you get credit for completion.

Take this class if you are caucasian like me. Tell him how well adapted to American life he is and laugh at his stupid jokes and it is a guranteed A. He is not as nice and bigoted towards other races. The class is a waste of time but an easy A.

The study guides are the only helpful thing in this class. Being in class is useless but attendance is mandatory. Memorize the study guides but he will still put questions on the test that you have never seen before even though he says they come straight from the study guide. There is no use in trying to understand him. His English is terrible!

he is a nice guy, but he is very difficult to understand and is in no way accomadating to students. He quizes every week and the quizes have nothing to do with his lectures, at least what you can understand of them. He is brutal and unyielding. Students are excpeted to make up for his short-comings. Do not take
