Comment:
Dr. Bremner is a brilliant, sweet woman with firsthand experience in the areas about which she teaches. I became frustrated with the other students in the class who often held back class discussions simply because they didn't pay attention. Maybe not the clearest, but if you take good notes, you shouldn't have a problem. Don't take advantage.

Comment:
Bremner does not know how 2 teach. Our class found it hard to follow her lectures b/c she would jump all over the place with her ideas.I took this class in person, and it ended up being a lot of self teaching to get the midterm and final paper done(only grades!). When questions were asked, it was only more confusion.

online course very interesting, lots of discussions. Papers are lengthy. She is great at explaining in detail theory vs. the subject at hand. I would take her again

She is really very kind and passionate. Discussions each week are broad so you have a chance to freely speak your mind. However, it's a lot of required reading, even though its not boring its time consuming. I also wish there was a clear breakdown of grading. There's also no real deadlines for the work.

Professor Bremner is passionate about the class but she is not a good professor. Class was very unorganized and lectures were all over the place. She cancelled classes or made most classes "online". There were two take home exams and one group presentation. If you want a very easy A, but not to learn a lot then take her class.

Passionate professor, however was confused for the first part of the class. Online structure was skewed, needs more clarification in lectures. Easy reads except one which is the basis of first paper. Papers are broad by topics, she's looking for specific answers. Due outlines, they help!

Bremner is a nice woman. She made this online class a piece of cake. One midterm, one final paper, and one discussion post on canvas every week. If you do every one and do good on the two exams you should pass. The topics of discussion are very interesting and I would recommend any sociology major to take this for an elective.

Great professor and extremely interesting subject. Lots of lots of great information. Too bad she doesn't teach other courses. The tests (2 and 1 paper) were very creative and required some thinking. I loved the class, learned a lot and changed my opinion about a lot that's happening in today's world. Highly recommend the course and Prof. Bremner.

All the comments are pretty much on the money. She is a very sweet lady, but very soft spoken and is hard to understand at times due to her accent. Very disorganized and loses her train of thought very easily. Having said all that, I would still recommend her class because she shakes up your worldview and makes you see things in a different light.

class was very interesting, she is a great professor, if you give it a chance, you will do well and enjoy the class. At first it may seem confusing but it turns out to be a great class. There was no text book but a course packet with different articles. she makes her topics clear in class discussions, if you attend the classes you will do well.

The thing about Bremner is that you have to come to class and you have to read the material. For those who can think on a higher level than usually required, this class can be very eye-opening. I gave this class my all and I will always benefit from what I learned about American society and human interactions as a whole. I would def. take it again.

Normally I have no trouble understanding a heavy accent, but that combined with her habit of rambling and forgetting what she was saying, I could never follow her. The only thing I learned was that Indian cinema rocks.
