Comment:
Attendance isn't mandatory per se, but you always have to turn in homework (10% of the grade) or take a preliminary quiz (also 10%), which is based on a chapter not yet discussed in class. You have to teach yourself things if you'd like to do well in his class. Study the old exams, not so much the book problems. Computer projects: good luck.

One of the worst professors ever. The class is hard but his teaching style makes it harder. His notes only cover the bare minimum of the chapter. Make sure you study old exam questions. His exam questions are nothing like the book. Take 311 with someone else if you can.

Worst Professor ever! He doesn't go through examples but expects you to understand how to work the problems based on his lecture. You don't learn Accounting which is a form of Math through words, you learn by working problems. He gives a 5 question Quiz every week on the Chapter so you have to read before class.

I don't know who gave this guy high marks, he makes this class way more difficult than it needs to be. Would rather lecture for 3 hours than help you set up how to start assigned problems. Expects you to grasp the concepts without providing any examples. Good luck!

Professor Dillon is an amazing professor. He's very clear, extremely helpful and strives to educate his students and also help them start their careers. That being said, this class is HARD. It's not difficult to understand, but it's a LOT of work and you can't fall behind. I have a great GPA and had to withdraw and retake it. Happy Studying!

Intentionally makes basic concepts ridiculously hard. Knows nothing about real world accounting. Avoid if possible.

Do all the homework and be prepared for class, especially the tests. He will try to reword problems on the exam just to throw you off. Overall, he is a good instructor and you will learn a lot.

Very good at explaining the subject, his tests are difficult as he makes you read the questions and thinks about the answers. This is a class that you have to work at, the more work you put into it, the more you get out of it.

He was a very good lecturer. He incorporated a lot of real world examples. Willing to help, if you ask for it. Don't expect to know everything from lecture. Must read the chapters ahead of time and I don't mean skimming. The class was a lot of work, but you will end up learning a lot from it.

Extremely tough! In this class you will learn a lot, however, Professor Dillon does make ACC311 a lot harder that it needs to be. If you have a chance DO NOT take him unless you are really hard working AND really bright student.

What you need to prepare yourself for is failure. He is a good teacher, and very interested in the class. The problem is his tests. They meant to challenge you with ideas and material not talk about in class. In my class the second test's average was a 62% and that was with an additional 20 point curve. Don't give up!!

Extremely knowledgeable on the subject.Quizzes are easy enough, as are the homework assignments.Computer project is a bit time consuming but doable. His exams, however, are very difficult and challenging, but not impossible. He curves them all except the final. Don't miss class and don't fall behind on the assignments. Not a class you can cram for.

HARD CLASS!! Quizzes in the beg of each class to make sure you read the chapter. He gives you a time consuming project. The tests are the real kicker...extremly hard!! Our class received high curves because we did so horrible. Skipping class is not recommended, you will have a hard time catching up. You will have to put alot of time into this class

This class is challenging but you learn a lot. Attendance is not mandatory but it sort of is because there are pre-quizzes or homework due every class. He teaches by principle and does very few examples. Exams are killer, you will get the worst grades you have ever had. Overall, he is a nice guy and I recommend him if you want to learn a lot.

Extremely hard class. Dillon is a tough grader. Often parts of his problems are worth more wrong than they are right. He will expose you to a problem from only one angle and then expect you to master all other angles without preparing your for them. If you put the time in you will come away having learned a lot. Definently a GPA killer though.

A completely horrible experience, taught out of an outdated textbook, provided examples that were riddled with mistakes, and gave exams that were impossible. Unfortuntely, he's the only one that teaches it.

He spends lectures covering general concepts and lets you figure out the actual accounting on your own. Ask him a question and he'll spend 15 minutes not answering it. Projects aren't too difficult, but make sure to go over his old exams(he hands them out) so you'll know what to expect. Definetly not an easy class, but I still managed a 4.0.
