Professor McGibbon is a renaissance man. Not only is he brilliant in his discipline but when you get to know him he has so many other dimensions. I had the opportunity to visit him at his residence. He does it all! He built his house, restores cars has a Bobcat he uses on his land and has a myriad of collections of things . He is amazing!

Exams are REALLY DIFFICULT. You MUST read the book chapters at least TWICE in order to pass. Dr. McGibbs is a genius. Become his friend, he is sweet man. He curved my class grade 100 POINTS at the end of the semester, so don't be discouraged if you do poorly on the first exam.

McGibbon is a true master of his subject. The man lives and breathes Organic Chemistry, but I think that only serves to make it more difficult for him to come down to his student's level of understanding. This class was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life... If you have the option of taking O CHEM II somewhere else I would recommend it.

Comment:
Professor McGibbon is an amazing man with an astounding level of knowledge in organic chemistry. I loved having him in lab, but, though it breaks my heart to say this, I advise avoiding taking him for lecture at all costs (even if that means taking organic II at a different school). His lectures are largely irrelevant and the tests are insane.

Comment:
McGibbon is by far the worst professor of them all. To give perspective, he expects the chapters regarding spectra to be learned via self-study - my friends at state schools (WVU) spent weeks on this material. He is a poor teacher and does not care if you hate him or his class. Make the wise choice and take OCHEM II at a different college.

Don't be fooled by the other comments. Organic is designed to be hard, it's not the prof. Read the text, study every problem, buy the MCAT o-chem review book (and use it). These together will help you understand the chemistry, and in turn, you may just get an A.

McGibbon is a master at his discipline, Compared to the other Organic profs he is light years ahead in knowledge and the way the class is conducted. Read the book to start and listen carefully to the stories he tells of his experiences as you may need that knowledge someday. His stories are so interesting! He is a no nonsense man! I admire him!

Prof Mcgibbon is a great professor and anyone who complains simply doesn't read the book. If you have any questions just ask and he will always help you understand the information. Very very intelligent guy who will sometimes speak wayover your head but always breaks it down to those who want to learn.

Prof. McGibbon is a genius. Literally know almost everything there is to know about OCHEM. Unfortunately, he doesn't relate that information to his students that well. If you want to do well or get an A in his class, you HAVE TO read the chapters at the very least twice and do the problems in the back. If you don't you won't survive off his lecture

People fail this class because they do not read the textbook. Read the textbook or I promise that you will get a C or worse. The textbook is clear, in fact its way easier to read than BIO 301. Getting an A is not too bad even if you have extracurriculars. Read the book or I have no sympathy for your failure.

There is no real "flow" to this class and McGibbon is sporadic. He gives extra credit on a whim. Make sure to keep up with your lab book. Reading the text is a MUST. If you don't like reading don't be surprised if you end with a C or D even if you ace other classes without reading. Do well on the quizzes and do as much extra credit as possible

He's an excellent man, but not the best teacher. You will never know what the tests are going to cover, and he never teaches why things act the way they do or gives any application problems. He just puts reactions on the board and has you apply those reactions on tests

Mr. McGibbon is a great guy, but not a great professor. He is indeed brilliant in O-Chem, but perhaps too brilliant to be teaching. He has a hard time relating the material to his students. Buy the book and take the time to sit down and understand what it is saying. His quizzes are on the problems in the back of the chapter so be sure to practice.

As a person he's a great man who loves small talk. As a teacher, not so great. I just didn't get much out of the class since all he basically did was write problems on the board. I guess it's good to have a lot of examples to work off of though. I pretty much taught myself the material. BTW the book SUCKS. USE ORGANIC CHEM BY JANICE SMITH!

Class is extremely difficult but by no means is it impossible to get an A. His lectures are VERY hard to keep up with and although he asks for questions, he doesn't take the time to answer any or if he does his answers leave you even more confused. However, the book is generally easy to follow if you spend the time studying it.

Mr. McGibbon is a great professor. You have to read the chapters before he goes over them in class or you won't know whats going on, but he tells you that ahead of time. He is really helpful and will take time to help you if you are putting effort into the class.

The man is brilliant, but he seems to assume you are as well. He expects you to remember any tiny detail he has ever metioned. He teaches incredibly fast, turns around, asks for questions, and then turns back around and starts writing agais before you can even begint to formulate a question. He needs to be in a lab, not teaching. Use your book alot
