Comment:
Cesarz's philosophy of science class is hard, but I learned more science in it than in many of my science classes. He's heavy on physics & uses the history of science to really explain the theories & how we arrived at them. He took us step by step through Newton's mathematical laws; I used to just memorize & apply them, but now I understand them.

He was helpful, clear, and expected you to have read the assigned reading and be ready with questions and arguments. He was critical but fair because he expected you to have a fairly coherent grasp of the material,

Attendance is mandatory if you care about learning something and passing the course, but he does not punish you for missing class. The topics are hard because philosophy is tough, it asks the hard questions. So come prepared to think and talk. He will do his best to answer your questions or guide you to search for one. He's hard but fair.

3 grades (maybe) throughout course. Each tests is very, very difficult, and requires fully knowing everything about your topic. Get one bad grade, your're grade is ruined. No extra credit. Very, very nice guy. But he's a bad professor. Will not take again.

It is very hard to get a straight answer out of this professor. He will tell you that the answer is in the syllabus, even though it is not there. He also likes to belittle you if you ask him a question, and is very bad about telling you what exactly he wants for the term paper. This class is very frustrating and I have not benefited from taking it.

I took Dr. Cesarz this semester for UI100. Going into this class, I thought it would be a blow off class. I was surely wrong. I saw many people drop this class but I wanted to work for my grade. I understand that he is a hard heading guy who assigns a ton of reading and papers, but he speaks the truth and if you listen to him, you can learn a lot.

Really hard classes but if you understand is an awesome lesson, a lot of my classmates complain but they don't like to study so that's the main reason. He is one of the most intelligent teachers I ever had.

This class is very confusing. I'm not quite sure where I stand as far as my grade goes. He doesn't use online grading and I never know what he's talking about.

An overall amazing guy in terms on knowledge and easiness to listen to. Does have very very tough assignments and looong reads. But when it's all said and done, he's not that bad and is probably that class that I can say I took knowledge home with me when I left for the day.

I got a high A in this class, but I won't lie, it was, frustrating, and I didn't believe in the content of the papers I turned in -- I literally just regurgitated his lectures. There is no homework other than presentations, difficult tests and quizzes. He is not good w other's viewsopinions. Class is doable, but very irritating. Heavy workload.

One of the worst teachers at SEMO. He told the same boring stories over and over. Don't disagree with him or you'll regret it. Did a major 10 page paper and never got the grade. He stopped me in the middle of my ethics presentation because it was not what he wanted to talk about, and I cleared my outline with him before the class. Just bad!!!

Worst instructor ever. Not one due date was provided and I ended up having to contact the dean about this professors behavior. He started to fail my papers because I upset him with my atheism. Cesarz is incapable of staying on track. He hijacked this course and turned it into a religious studies class. There is a reason he had to leave Auburn...

Dr. Cesarz does not use technology at all. Extremely conservative and it shows in his lectures. Doesn't lecture from the book. Only grades are tests, no homework assignments. Three grades for entire semester (including the final). Test don't come from notes or book. Unorganized lecturer making note taking nearly impossible. Nice guy,bad prof.

Extremely supercilious. Notes are nearly impossible to take since his teaching is chaotic, jumping from one thing to another like a mind with no coherent or organized thought. His tests seem structured from neither book nor his ramblings in class. He was very disappointing.

Comment:
His expectations for UI100 are unrealistic. I didn't even take the honors course and spent more time on his class than any other the semester I took it. He takes a university required class way too seriously, especially a class for freshman students. He'll tell you he rarely gives As and you have to work way too hard for a B in his class.

Dr. Cesarz is probably one of the most intelligent and politically aware professors on campus. His class does require some writing, but it is all relevant. He teaches so much more than classroom information. I will even continue to talk to him outside of the classroom and outside of the university.

Dr. Cesarz was my favorite teacher this year. Even though his class was more advanced for a UI-100, it was an honors class, so I expected to do work. You read novels and write book reports on them. He really got the class into current events and the government. I will miss not having him next semester!
