Comment:
The course load is extremely light: two 4 page papers, and one group presentation which is pass/fail. The papers are laid back, but he'll give the entire class A-'s. Loves to rant about his own views and opinions, but probably the easiest JO 525 class at BU. Does not let you out early though he promises he will.

George Bachrach is a pretty cool guy. I was really dreading 525 as a requirement, but very glad I took it with him. He makes it so bearable - no tests or textbooks, just relevant news reading, etc...I also need to say that this man is adorable. Take his class if you need 525 as a requirement!! It's not hard, but you also learn what you need to.

I was worried I was going to do horrible in this class cuz I have absolutely no interest in the topic, but Prof. Bachrach made it really interesting! There's not much hw at all: just weekly readings that he assigns, two 1000 word paper that really aren't hard at all, and a group presentation. The guest speakers are also great!

This is the best course I've taken at COM.There are no textbooks, instead he focuses on court cases of media law, which makes his course more interesting. He also incorporates some impressive journalists and other media professionals in the class, so you can learn from them as well. He encourages conversaion and is100%willing to help his students.

One of the most helpful professors you will ever have. The class itself is easy and he makes learning all the libel drivel a breeze. Even on the group presentations and papers, he'll help you get people to talk to. Top notch!

Bachrach is the man. Only two essays and a group presentation. No tests. And you learn a lot about the law and journalism. He does repeat himself a lot, but my favorite is, "How come we have all these polling and fundraising stories? None of these politicians are talking about housing, health-care and ware and peace."

Great choice for 525. Write two easy papers and craft one group presentation, which he usually does for you by inviting interesting guest speakers, and you should get a good grade easily. "The Last Great Defender of Deval Patrick" will be his epitaph. We talk about curtains, cars, and helicopters every class. Repetitive, but entertaining.

He did like to brag more about himself than actually teaching the class. This class was a waste of my time and my parents money! I definitely would have benefited from the class with a different professor in charge!

Great class! Professor really cares that you learn and understand how persuasion pertains to the real world. I really liked the class. The workload isn't too bad, 2 papers and a presentation.

He was great. 2 writing assignments and a group project, what more can you ask for? If your one of those, like myself, who have a full table and could just use some sort of a break, this guy is for you. Show up to class, write the papers, and talk during your presentation and you have yourself an A.

lecture material and assignments do not reflect class description - cross-listed as a graduate class with grad credit, yet graduates are treated as undergrads and do the same assignments without any extra work/attention (yet they pay more for it) - Bachrach does have a lot of connections and uses them to the classes benefit through guest lectures

he isn't a hard professor just a big ****. he is full of himself and enjoys spending time talking about himself over and over again. you don't need to read for class and there is barely any work. but when he does assign work just make sure to pay attention to what he says in class b/c its always vague and u wont get clarification.

Very knowledgable professor and not much work at all, fair and pretty easy grader. Almost every class we had a guest speaker...definitely able to leave at "break time" if you are too bored to stay for the whole 3 hours (like me) and still get an A. He LOOOVES to talk about his political career (that's pretty much all he talks about)

Bachrach is extremely smart and he knows what he is talking about. he is liberal but he does not even suggest that you need to be and students are welcomed to challenge him on anything and everything. This is one of the most practical classes that I have ever taken and it is totally because of him
