Changed her expectations 3 times. Grades papers with NO rubric and does not provide much feedback on the midterm and other papers. You have two papers, a midterm and a final. However, if it's anything like this semester you will also have to post blogs on the book you read and do a project that was not in the original syllabus. Would rate "0".

Run away as fast as you can. Don't make the mistake I did. DROP ANY CLASS WITH FRIEDMAN. Her expectations are impossible. Even when you quote her verbatim she finds fault. She even grammatically corrects direct quotes from the text. Her grading is just simply circling things on an essay and then holding onto them for 5-6 weeks. No Joke. RUN AWAY !

Allows nothing but close reading , but must be exactly as she agrees. No clear assignments or rubrics for papers. Constantly writes off student observations that don't fit her repetitive content. No room for thought. Frustrating class. Do not take her.

Professor Friedman is the worst teacher I've ever had. She is very unclear about expectations, and her grading fluctuates so it is difficult to understand why grades are given. She can also be very rude and disrespectful of students, and is often late to class. She does not stick to the syllabus at all. Avoid taking her if possible.

I'm not the most gifted writer or english oriented, yet she enjoys and can analyze great literary works. Her jokes are great. Especially her comparison of the passage Lumpy Universe which she thinks of as oatmeal. :) Some good stories as well.

Dr. Friedman is incredibly intelligent and has very high standards. She is a tough grader and requires a lot of reading, but also lets class discussion go where students lead it. You're much more likely to get an A if you participate regularly in class discussions, and make sure you laugh at her awkward attempts at humor. She'll remember you.

Professor Friedman is an easy professor to get along with once you realize that because she got her PhD from Yale she is better than you. Getting an A on a paper is as easy as going to her office hours and only writing what she tells you to.

Always late to class. Vague assignments and is not very helpful in clarification. Toughest grader ever! This is definitely not an easy A. Don't make comments in class, she will always ask you to "take it one step further" and beats every topic to a pulp making this class a snoooze.

Terrible teacher! Her way of interpreting something is the only right way. Unclear about assignments. Constantly late to class. Says um and okay almost 10 times a minutes...each. Hard grader. Can't read comments she writes to you.

Certainly one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She teaches stories one way and is not accepting of alternate interpretations. Classes are boring, she walks in late and expects to keep the entire class late so she can catch up on time. She deserves this frowny face.

I hate this class. I was on the wait list for it for 2 years because i heard it is an easy A, o it is but just all the other sections. to put it blatantly if you get in her section for this class you are getting screwed.
