If you sees that you are put your effort, he will consider your grade. But if you don't show up, don't participate, and don't do your homework, of course you will have a tough time in this course. IT IS IMPORTANT TO READ THE TEXTBOOK. Theory is equally important, and practice over and over again the exercises. He also gives you important tips.

He teaches accounting like we're in the 70's. This guy isn't teaching you anything-- just there to waste your time and money. He didn't bother teaching or explaining anything at all. He just assumed that you knew everything and gave you the answers to homeworks on chapters he never bothered to teach. Also, no one can read his handwriting.

Took this class in the Fall 2015 at NCC, got a C+. Great enthusiastic professor. The tests are difficult; you do have to put in the time and effort though. Study and do the homework. You'll be fine with those things done. Major pet peeve!!! NO CELL PHONES, he goes crazy.

He is a very passionate professor and also a very courteous grader. You do have to put in the time and effort though. He is also very helpful if you need advice for things outside the classroom such as interviews or even perpetration for the CPA exam. I would recommend this class to anyone who is serious about perusing a career in accounting

Professor Jacobs has made me think twice about ever attending HOFSTRA ever again. I have never had a poorer professor with no morals and complete disregard with professional teaching. He had no understanding of the material and taught out of a solutions manual. Even the best Accounting students in the program learned nothing after taking this class

Comment:

The best accounting professor at Hofstra. His exams are brutal, but they prepare you for the CPA exam. You have to be able to teach yourself a majority of the material. After taking this class, you will be able to know whether or not you can pass the CPA exam. He gives very good advice concerning careers and jobs.

He is like House MD: fun to watch, but horrible to have a conversation with. He doesn't filter what he says and many times embarrasses others in front of class whether it is intentional or not. This pushes students away from learning. If he was careful about what he says, this would be a great class to be in because he has a lot of experience.

Great Professor. So helpful, really knows what he is talking about. Difficult exams but good prep for CPA exam. Pushes you to succeed. Use textbook and class notes to study. PAY ATTENTION in class and to what he says will be on the test.

He is a good guy, but he just cannot teach Accounting. When the average grade on an exam is near 50/60, you know something is wrong with his teaching. He is generally all over the place and is not clear when teaching. You need to teach yourself the class, and teaching yourself 125 is tough. However, I would not take Slavin because he walks on water
