Literally one of the nicest people. Owns a motorcycle, wears floral skirts, loves animals, married to a vet--the dream. Readings can be found on sparknotes, just be prepped for short quizzes. Takes student opinion into account for test structure. Fair grader. Lovely human.

Such a great instructor and passionate about what she teaches. Truly one of my favorite instructors at UVM. Do your readings and try to gain your best understanding of them through class discussion and you'll do just fine in the class.

Comment:

Hesterly Goodson took a subject that I have never preciously enjoyed all that much (American Literature), and taught it in a way that really engaged me. She's super super nice, a fair grader, and the readings are all fairly doable. She does take attendance, so beware of that, and she gives six pop quizzes throughout the semester.

Goodson is a great professor! Even if the assigned reading can be boring sometimes, she is so enthusiastic and personable that she always makes the class worthwhile. English 23 is a discussion based class with little in-class writing, and lots of out-of-class reading and a few writing assignments. Participation is key to get all of the best info.

You will be writing nonstop when you take this class. I learned a lot about my writing through her class. I love Lee Lee! Such a wonderful person. She knows what she's talking about too. Makes the mandatory class enjoyable.

She treated us like we were 5 year olds, she takes herself way too seriously for a basic Intro writing expression class. She's more concerned with the technicality of sources and writing format than the actual quality of my writing which I've found extremely disheartening. Class time was a waste of time

I was not looking forward to this class at all, but it ended up being my favorite. she is a kick ass professor. so nice, passionate and intriguing. she made this dry material interesting to learn about. very easy teacher as well, and gives lots of partial credit on tests. take a class with her for an easy A!

I absolutely love this professor. She is SO kind, very interesting and helpful, and truly loves what she teaches. She is easy, but only if you put in the effort. I always look forward to her class. Always do the reading because you will better be able to participate and she gives pop quizzes sometimes. I would COMPLETELY reccomend her.

Enjoyed this class, actually learned a lot. LeeLee can be a little boring/mellow, but is very smart and passionate about the material. HARD grader on writing assignments, but tests were not bad. Make sure you participate in class because it effects your grade! I didnt do that many of the readings but if you have the gist of the story, youll be ok.

LeeLee is one of the best English professors I have had. She is so knowledgeable and passionate about what she teaches and it makes all the difference. The material is difficult, however she does a great job analyzing the texts. She incorporates history into her lectures which is great - you will learn a tremendous amount. Highly recommended.
