Honestly the best professor I've ever had. Highly intelligent and amusing, eager to help anyone who doesn't understand. He even bought pizza for our MEG class during a study session before the final. Amazing, amazing professor.

I really enjoyed this class. It's hard, but Faulkner is any amazing professor, and if you really want to learn something and ask questions, you will pass. I'm sad that he's retired now. Everyone will be missing out!

Had a couple of his upper divisio classes, they were tough, but he is great. Didn't do well enough in his modern English grammar class to pass, bit he gave me an incomplete until I fixed up my final to where it was good enough for him to change my grade to a C. He did this for multiple others as well. This was amazing coming from the head of the department. Faulkner is a great all-around teacher!

The textbook we used for the class was writen by him, titled Rules of the Game. It contains so many grammatical errors any grade school child could point them out. This is disturbing considering he is the head of the department and the only professor who teaches grammar.

Dr. F. is a very smart man, so he can be intimidating. But he is funny, opinionated, and most importantly he TEACHES and he doesn't allow slacking, whining, or excuses. Best class ever!

He is incredibly helpful and I'm sure that had I put more effort into it rather than giving up and feeling defeated, the outcome may have been in my favor. It is very easy to feel overwhelmed and frustrated and even embarrassed to go to class for fear of feeling dumb, but don't give up! I regret it!

This is a very difficult class. The teacher provides the only opportunity to pass the class through weekly essay's & a midterm worth 30% each & comprehensive final worth 40%. If you don't do well on the midterm, then forget any chance of passing the class. He does offer study sessions and a final review worksheet which help somewhat.

One of the best professors I've ever taken. His lectures are challenging, well-thought out, and witty. It is hard work to get As, but they feel better than the As you get in any other classes.

Easier than some of his other classes; however, more the subject matter is more gray. Expect not only to read often, but to read stuff you do not understand at all. A great professor, overall (if you don't mind hard work).

Modern English Grammar. Very difficult class. Professor an asset to the university, however. Very clear and willing to explain complex matters. Knows what he is talking about, but able to put it into laymans words if necessary. If you want an A, you can get one, but expect to work very, very hard for it.

This is one of the hardest class I have ever taken. There is a lot of reading involved in this class. The teacher is very enthusiastic. However, the grade for this classes is six essay divided up with two essays per exam. It is open note and open book, but the questions are very open which can be hard to answer and the grades are reflective of it.
