The first day I didnt like her at all. She seemed difficult and real rough. After a couple classes I learned telling myself "just do exactly what she says." And thats what I did and I ended up really liking her as a teacher and learned a TON. She's straight to the point and throws in some humor too.

The "this person needs to realize who pays her wages" line is a complete joke. The only reason people fail Dr. Martin's class is because they are lazy. She is tough and not very personable at times, but she is easily the best teacher at Baker. DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU WANT AN EASY CLASS! Do yourself and her a favor.

She needs to realize who pays her wages. Insults are a complete waste of time as are stories of her personal life. Contradicts her self continually. Does not answer questions, just yells at you. Treats everyone as if they are below her and thinks no one else can be or is as good teacher as she is. I have better professors than her.

She is easiy the best teacher that Baker College-Flint has to offer. She is extremly tough and sometimes hard to get along with, but you will leave her class a much better student than when you entered it.

This was the worst teacher and the second to lowest grade I have ever recieved at this school. I should have listened to the comments others have written and went to another teacher. I never onced used my book and she never once taught what was on the tests. I recieved high grades on my papers and very low on the tests due to lack of teaching.

Dr. Martin overall was a very good professor. She pushed every last button & made me want to pull out my hair but I learned a better way of writing, & the way she teaches grammar is phenomenal. Artistic writers are not going to like this class, there is no room for creative writing. It better be her way, or you wont even come close to passing.

I enjoyed this class. If you are not the brightest crayon in the box do not do this class. If you actually think before you speak in that class you will be fine. Note: to the people who are ripping on her you might want to do it in proper english, that might be why you didn't pass her class. Tough but great teacher!

I learned SO much from Dr. Martin! I am going into the Nursing Program and I scored extremely high on the HESI. The grammer and vocab. portion was a breeze. Thank you Dr. Martin!

Watch Out! She's a GREAT teacher for those that are sincerely interested in learning. I thought I knew grammar until I took her class. She teaches it so you know it...and won't forget it. Follow her instructions and you will be alright.

Very knowledgeable english professor, however, not a very good teacher. She was rather rude at times and she sometimes contradicted her own instructions. We were told that we could choose any topic on which to write, but after she read the paper, she'd say, "I dont want anymore papers on this subject or that." I did get a B+, I disliked the class.

She is a great teacher, and you learn a ton from her. She is also very hard. Make sure you follow directions and do a bunch of research. She is impressed by extra sources, and enjoys a reasonable student. I worked extra hard and though I haven't gotten my final grade it will probably be an A-. But if you pay attention you will be just fine. Smile!!

To do well, you need to work very hard and follow directions just as she gives them, which is usually frustrating, but worth it. Her grading scale is tough and you do earn the grade that you receive, which won't be an A unless you're a natural. My advice is to study and to work hard and you'll do just fine, also you'll learn a lot in the process.

Her classes are not hard as everyone believes they are, her attitude is what makes the class hard. In addition, she thinks that she is better and smarter then everyone else when in all reality she is not as smart as she believes. I agree that Dr. Martin is a hard teacher, however she has taught me a lot. Dr. Martin is an excellent teacher and she will give you what it takes to be an excellent writer.
