Took physics 1 with him. He assigns problems out of the book, but does not collect them for a grade. You're basically required to teach yourself the class because he goes way too fast in the lectures for the average student to understand anything.

Dr. Kirk rushes through class and expects students to know things weve never been taught before. He is horrible at explaining, and gets angry when students try to ask questions. DO NOT TAKE PHYSICS WITH HIM!

He love his subject I'll give him that. His lab was not impossible, focus on the first labs math procedure because that's what you do all semester. As a person though he could work on his interpersonal skills--became very annoyed if you didn't understand something right away, berated and verbally abused students who asked questions.

Dr. Kirk is an excellent professor. He loves physics and I enjoyed his classes. Physics is a difficult subject but you just need to study. I took his summer class. It is a lot of work for 5 weeks but I would guess that it made it slightly easier to do well because you are pretty much forced to study everyday due to tests every other class.

Definitely not easy. I studied for 20+ hours per test but got A's on all of them. He gives a lot of partial credit luckily. He tells you you have to work for your grade and its true. Do the problems in the book over and over and memorize the equations. Tests are on a lot of info so don't get behind. Labs are easy and kinda cool.

Overall great prof, quirky but cute. Definitely willing to help you out. Explains things with the general assumption that your mind comprehends spatial analysis likened to his. Unintentionally condescending at times. Tests are based on problems straight out of the book, which is inexpensive. You get out what you put in.

What a Guy! He is quirky and weird but very fun to watch in class. My suggestion to anyone who is a non-major is to find a study group right away!! It can be a really tough class to get behind in. Very fair with grading though, grades on a curve. PRACTICE PROBLEMS FROM THE BOOK RELIGIOUSLY. Physics is hard, but the professor is great.

Kirk is an interesting guy but very arrogant. He can move pretty fast since it's a 2 hour lecture so he covers about 2 chapters a class. He holds problem sessions that are helpful but he talks down to students. If the class as a whole doesn't do well, it's your fault not his and he keeps going on with business. Overall, not a bad prof.

He tells it like it is and wants you to understand the material. Don't go and cry to him but actually show him that you're putting forth an effort. He's a really nice guy to talk to and as long as you know the material you should be fine. Good professor with my recommendation and I would definitely take another course with him.

Look, The guy teaches higher level physics classes and has some entry level classes mixed in, to include electronics classes, which by the way were awesome. The guy's name is Jim Kirk, hello..a science guy with a fitting name. Het gets it and his students. He's a great person if you want to take some tim and speak to him offline.

I know what the previous review is talking about, and he's not being mean or angry -- he's trying to make the lab more challenging and you're taking it the wrong way. He gives really good explainations of how to do things, and expects people to pull their own weight. If you are willing to try hard, you will do well.

His lab is pretty straightforward - the instructions are clearly written and the apparatus is generally working. How he grades is a great mystery, it appears to be a purely subjective process. He has become visibly angry with students and that anger colored his interaction with the remaineder of the class. Woe to those who angered him!

Had him for lab. He's clearly a genius, but he isn't a very good teacher. He's impatient and will berate you if you ask a question or if you don't understand the material perfectly and right away. However, lab was interesting and each one was essentially the same procedure, so you get used to the way he wants things done. No unpleasant surprises.

Is hard sometimes but as long as you show that you're putting effort forth you will be fine. Kinda intimidating but don't be afraid to approach him out of class. Won't move on from a problem is done and no matter what anybody says he absolutely loves his job and thinks it's a privilege he gets to do it everyday just a little over busy
