VERY boring class, especially if you're not into art. This was a Gen Ed course, and I don't think he even realized that. He acted as though we were all art majors and knew this stuff. Avoid class if possible.

Seriously the nicest professor I have ever had. The class itself is very boring if you are not particularly interested in art, but it's a required gen ed and Professor Weiss understands that. The tests are very easy if you just study. He also doesn't give a final, just a last test. Seriously he is the most caring and sweetest professor.

I took art as a gen ed course, and i liked this class a lot. never really had an interest in art before, but he makes it kind of interesting. heavy use of the book, its a little pricey but you definitely need it.

Professor Weiss is a wonderful teacher. Though he is very devoted to his interest in art, he understands that most people taking the class are not art majors. He provides study guides that are extremely helpful, and he is very open to adjusting the tests based on student performance. The class is fairly boring, but he tries to make it bearable.

He is very passionate about his work, which is good. But, he has to realize he's teaching a gen. ed. lecture for people that aren't art students; hence we don't care as much as he does. The tests are hard if you don't like art and/or don't care about it. Nice guy, though.

I had him for art design and visual culture and you could tell that he was very passionate about his job which was great but that class for me was a gen. ed. so i wasnt so passionate about it but you definitely need the textbook for this to do good on the exam and sometimes he takes attendance and sometime he doesnt but i liked the class overall

This is the worst professor I have ever had. He is extremely biased. Cannot get through a class without mentioning hilary clinton at least once. Barely knows the artists and titles of the artwork he talks about. Arbritarily decides on giving a test on a random chapter in the text book. Has no structure to his class, didnt prepare for it at all.

You can learn so much from Weiss if you are willing. His essay tests and papers were hard, he really expects a lot from you, but if you really want to grow it is sooo worth it. Discussions in this class were amazing. Taking a class with Weiss is a challenge, but if you give it your all you won't regret it, and you'll come away with a lot. Love him!

Very interesting personal life if you get him going about where he's been who he's seen etc. Art since 1950 is a great class, you only have a few grades so be prepaired for them. Sometimes its boring in class, but it could be worse, like a math class or something. And you really do learn stuff!!!

I loved the class because he is the type of person who is really into what he is talking about and that was awesome. Its a great class for just sitting back and soakin stuff in....If your not into leactures and discussions, don't take the class. However, if you love art and really want to learn about whats been going on around u, take the class.

Poor evaluator! Grades essays as if you were taking a high level English class. Dwelled in Impressionism far to long before teaching art since 1950 and I do believe that was the name of the course. He'll also make you purchase a text book ($100) that he'll assign 4 readings from the whole semester. If someone else teaches this course...take them.
