Jan Minton is the absolute worst professor I have ever had at Roanoke College. If you're not good at mathematica, don't take her class. If math is a weak area for you, don't take her class. If you actually want to learn something DON'T TAKE HER CLASS. If you want to fail miserably even though you had a tutor then you should take her class (:

I took Jan's INQ 240 and she may be a little off in the brain, but she means well. If you took statistics in high school or if you actually pay attention her class will be a breeze. Tests are fairly easy and the content is not too difficult to get a grip on. She is one of the most awkward women I've ever encountered, though, so be prepared.

Her classes are awful and are almost impossible to follow. Although she is really nice, every time i walk into her class and have to sit there for an hour, I want to set myself on fire. Super scatter brained and should revise her in class techniques.

She is very helpful during her office hours. The whole course will teach you the fundamentals of statistics, whether the conclusion is strong enough or not strong enough. She is very straight forward. She knows what she is talking about. She helped me a lot through her office hours, and then I understood it. Best of Luck!

I had previously taken one semester of Pre-Calculus and had made an A. She doesn't ever take attendance, but I would advise attending class. If you miss one or two days towards the end of the semester you'll wind up flunking the tests. She doesn't really teach, but gives you a small example and then assigns "practice" which she never checks.

She makes corny jokes, but her class is a breeze. Her homework is never checked, her quizzes are short and easy, and her tests are about the same. She's tough with paper grading, though. Take notes in her class and it will easily be a GPA booster.

She's a little scatter-brained sometimes, but the class is easy and she teaches directly to the homework. She practically told our class that homework was irrelevant grade-wise. Pay attention in class and Prof. Minton's calc is a breeze.

this lady is seriously crazy! i was in an honors math program at a private school. i took her math 101 class thinking it would be an easy gpa booster. i was so wrong! her joke are horrible (she's the only one that laughs at them)and the subject matter she teaches is so pointless. go the first day and if you don't get whats she's saying -DROP-
