Essentially, Professor Chen rarely lectures. The majority of the class time is spent doing labs, writing lab reports and collecting them for a lab notebook. Other days are spent briefly reading off her slides and briefly explaining them. The majority of the work done is reading the book by yourself at home. May as well be an online class.

Her tests cover every single detail. You need to know literally everything. The good thing, she highlights all important stuff in her power points. Expect to pay for the access to online materials. Overall, she is a great professor. Her lectures are not too fast, and not too slow. She stops for questions during the lectures. Very sweet prof.

Dr. Chen's lectures are off a powerpoint and kind of scratches the surface of the chapters, you must study them thoroughly on your own or you won't do good on exams. Go to her office hours! Every class meeting she gives out classwork that can't be made up so attendance is key! Labs are interesting and expects notebooks to be thorough and completed

I really liked professor Chen. She was so helpful. Her Lectures were somewhat confusing but her tests were based on the lecture. Attendance is not mandatory, but it's essential to pass. Her Labs are difficult and that's because they are group work, if one student slacks off the whole group goes down.

If you are the type of student that tends to slack off or procrastinate, you should not have this professor. She does not accept late work or excuses. Her lectures are fine, you get the information you need. Labs are difficult, she has very high standards for lab reports. Labs are group work, you are punished if a member of the group slacks off.

Don't let the idea of Ciletti being an easier prof deter you from Chen. professor Chen is one of the sweetest most helpful professor at PCC. She curves her tests and gives E.C on her POP quizzes, so attend all class meetings or you'll end up like me struggling to get an A from missed quizzes. tests are standard, just long so plan accordingly.

I really liked Professor Chen. Very nice, and gives you all the tools you need to pass the class. Puts the powerpoint lectures up on Canvas, and the test is right off the study guide. When most the class got a really terrible grade on a test, she gave everyone the option to retake 1 test of their choice. Would love to take a class with her again.

Very clear and tests are fair. U will do very well if you just put in time to study. Not an easy grade but shes extremely helpful in how she prepares for tests. Nothing on tests were surprising and she will hint on important material to study for. Wont waste your time lecturing on material u dont need to know. BEST bio professor ive hada bio major.

The materiel in Bio 1C is not easy but her test is very easy, especially she curves the test since some students just can not do well on those easy tests; therefore, getting a high score becomes POC as long as you spend enough time :) I spent 2~3hours/week reviewing her class notes and the textbook. That should be more then enough getting a A.

Bio 1C definitely has hard materials. Dr. Chen's lecture was kinda sleepy since she just follows her slides with a low voice. Tests are fairly challenging and tiring. She will give you extra credits. Make sure to attend class regularly.

VERY easy. quiz at end of each lab were super easy. actual labs are tedious but do them because the info is on the quizes. i almost got 100 percent in the class but i missed one class which means i missed a quiz. TAKE HER even if it's just for GE req. she is the best

shes super sweet, willing to help i felt like she was one of my friends never seditated to sk her questions. just one thing i dont like about her is attendance...she is soooooooo anal. probably the most anal about attendace in the history of pcc professors...so u better be there EVERY time to pass her her class...

Dr. Chen is a great professor with very clear lectures. The best thing about her is her desire to teach and see you succeed by helping even after class. Exams were difficult but very fair. She gave a list of concepts you should know for the exams. I would take her again if she teaches other BIOLOGY classes. HIGHLY RECOMMENED.

The class was incredibly interesting and I'm not a Bio person so it was definitely enjoyable. She makes people in the class feel very comfortable to ask questions unlike in a lot of other classes. Overall it was a really fun class and I still remember a lot from it. I would take another of her classes again and have recommended her to friends.
