Professor Smarr is very passionate in what she is teaching. Let her incorporate her knowledge on what MMW 12 into you. She doesnt go off topic at all. Clickers are a bit annoying if you didnt do the reading, but just do it and youll be fine. For midterm and final, just go over her PowerPoint slides and youll be good. Overall great prof!

Papers and exam grades depend on your TA. Her lectures were okay; she went on tangents and her slides were very simple and basic. Exams were pretty easy. She doesn't try to trick you which is great

Prof. Smarr's lectures are a little unorganized (but very informative) and the slides are almost useless (so take notes!) She doesn't use study guides but her exams are very easy. There're tons of reading, but that's MMW for you. Overall, your grade depends on your TA.

She is a pretty good professor. She speaks in a very professional manner and always asks anybody if they have questions at the end of class. A litttttle dull at times, but she was spot on about the material in lecture. The final was very fair. The downside to the class is that your grade is very dependent on your TA.

Considering MMW is terrible, I fully expected to hate Smarr's class. In reality, it ended up being one of my favorites. The class really depends on the TA, but Smarr is a great lecturer and invites people to ask questions during lecture which is awesome. 10/10 recommend!!

I took 3 of her courses. My writing drastically improved with her clear feedback. Her Italian Comedy course was FANTASTIC! HT 22 lectures were clear, concise, and interesting. The tests were a direct reflection of the reading assignments and lectures. HT 101 had to do with Greek theatre. She expects effort, and you will learn so much if you try.

The way she presents various religions and their histories is quite respectful and unbiased in comparison to other MMW12 professors at the time. Her paper topics were relatively easy and she posts powerpoints online, which really helps with notetaking and reviewing. Grading really depends on which TA you end up with. Some are nicer, some are NOT.

Pretty good instructor. I saw a lot of comments about how people don't like her opinions on religion, but I don't see why. On the other hand, that might be because I don't have a religious preference. She took up some time trying to set up her powerpoints and clicker questions, but that was just because it was her first time using the iclicker syst

My biggest mistake in college was taking Smaar twice for Hum 1 and 2. I wasn't excited to be in class and learn. Sometime times things got interesting when she role played with different hats (cute) but seriously one day out of the whole quarter isn't enough. I asked her for a study guide once and she said she gives enough for us to pass the class

good teacher and wouldnt mind taking her again. Her midterms and tests aren't difficult, they're pretty much based on readings and class lectures. Will admit sometimes the lectures are dry but I still think they're worth going to. if you do miss she puts slides online and you can study from those and get a good grade.

Smar is hands down the most boring lecturer I have encountered. Even when I went to class, I couldn't take notes. Her thoughts are not fluid, she does not facilitate note taking. I would describe her as- blah. She is not too hard, but I would prefer a more difficult yet interesting and passionate professor any day.

Class overall was good...Smarr is really knowledgeable in theatre so in that sense it was good if your interested. Lots of reading in this class, to pass the class you have to do the reading. If you like plays, take the class.

Not a very good lecturer, a lot of note taking, but her midterms and final are based on notes and reading, so do those and you're fine. Midterms and final are pretty easy if you go to lecture and kind of have an idea about the readings. Try to get Matt as a TA, he was really helpful.
