I like to think I'm a very good student who always does the work and tries hard. Ive never failed a class before, but I failed his class. He gives WAY too much work and does not consider the fact that students have other classes to balance.. I became so overwhelmed I accepted failing. I never write poor rates, but do not take him!

Nothing you do in the class matters, it's a "flipped classroom" so its mostly online based. He never makes any sense, all of his notes are unclear and have spelling and grammatical errors. When challenged he gives the whole "well i'm a professor so shut up" shtick. He's terrible and I wish I had dropped the class when I had the chance.

The worst class I've ever taken. He gives way too much work for no reason!! He's disorganized and his lectures are boring.

THE WORST DO NOT TAKE!!!! Extremely disorganized BUT EXPECTS you to put in a ridiculous amount of work to hold you to 'higher standards' when his own teaching abilities are anything but. I took this course so I didn't have to waste that much money on textbooks for the other GNHU courses... I wish I did not worth the trouble with him.

Please for the love of God, unless this is your only option, please do not take this professor. He is the worst. His class structures online aren't structured... not sure how he's allowed to teach online in the first place. Assignments get posted without notice and take 5 hours to complete. Totally disorganized. AVOID

This is probably the worst class I have ever taken. The modules are so unorganized and there is so structure in the class. Professor doesn't take the time to answer questions from students. Extremely demanding (minimum of 30 assignments with 30 questions each), and prof. claims this class is successful in the past with the same assignments.

He knows a lot about humanities, but he gives an insane amount of work. 30 homework assignments, with 60 questions each. It takes more than an hour to do one homework assignment. He makes lots of mistakes and when the class tells him about it, he says we are wrong, even when we have proof. Save yourself the trouble and don't take this class!

This professor is incredibly passionate about the humanities and ancient civilizations, and seems to be a bit out there most of the time. Be ready for roughly 20+ homework assignments that will take you about an hour to complete due at the end of the semester. If you don't have a passion for humanities a recommend switching professors.

With online courses it's crucial for your syllabus as well as assignments to be clear, and easy to understand. His slides and syllabus are written haphazardly. His canvas website is completely disorganized, and frankly confusing to figure out what readings to do. I wouldn't recommend this professor.

-Online/Lecture class: Each HW is like a quiz w/T-F questionstime consuming. Don't procrastinate. The HW has videos related to each one, so it'll give you answers per quiz ques. so pay attention -Canvas assignmentsDisorganized -After lecture, you get a quiz but if you listen and write everything down/ask him ques. you'll be fine -PASS DO THE HW

Bought all txtbooks needed, bother reading them-Too much info to analyze so do yourself a favor and DROP. Its an online+lecture heavy class & after each lecture, theres a quiz. Pay attention to every word he says during lectures; theyll help answer quiz questions. Gives SO much online HW (quizzes) no due date but dont procrastinate-At least guess!

Work load is ABSURD. Take this class if you plan on having A LOT of free time to dedicate to this class. Easy A if you do all of the work, but it's SO MUCH HOMEWORK. Be prepared to watch video slideshows he narrates himself; he even burps in one of them. AVOID THIS CLASS!!!

Very nice guy, hilarious, but the work load is insane for a gen ed class. Easy grader but get ready to make this your heaviest work load class. Quizzes everyday, over 30 homework assignments with majority having over 40 questions. Good luck reading his course assignments in canvas. I liked him as a person though.

This guy gives a ridiculous amount of work. It is really not necessary for him to assign the amount of work he does, but if you do the homework you will pass. He is a very easy grader.

Professor Alvares, online Summer course is incredible intense, keep up with the reading, communicate with him and you will do just fine. He is a very easy grader, and accommodating, gets back to you in a reasonable time. It was my first online course and I would take another online course with him if I can. Will work with you if you have trouble.

The workload is ridiculous. I cannot understand how he expects the students to complete so many assignments in so little time. The work is very extensive and elaborate. Only bright side is that he is an easy grader. Avoid this professor at all costs if you know what's good for you!

Comment:
He gives so much unnecessary work. On his syllabus says 'you need 30-40 hrs to study EACH week'. That's ridiculous. He thinks you have no life or other classes but his. You get 30-35 online hw and each hw is made up of 35-45 questions. You need to read and watch videos every week also. It's way too much work for a gen ed class.

Comment:
This is a 100 level gened class. Taken directly from the syllabus, he expects you to study 30-40 hours a week plus homework. That is the hours of a full time job. For a freshman level gened class. Absolutely ridiculous. The course material is confusing and non intuitive as well. The only good part is the tests are lenient.

I had Professor Alvares for an online class. Cool dude! You have to keep up with all the work but it wasn't impossible. If you fall behind you can catch up. I recommend him because he does care about you as a student even though you don't see him face to face.
