Comment:

Master Northrup is one of the most genuinely caring professor's I've ever had. His class is far from easy because of how detail-oriented he is but he cares about his students and will make a conscious effort to get the best out of them at every opportunity.

Best professor I have had at Samford! I took Mr. Northrup freshmen year for both CP 101 and 102. Got an A. The class isn't that easy, but if you do the work you will be successful.

Comment:

Professor Northrup is legitimately one of the most caring men I've met here at Samford. He cares a lot about what he teaches and a lot about his students. Getting on his good side is easy as long as you do the work. Speaking of the work, there is A LOT of it. Don't take this class if you're looking to coast. Very interesting and fun.

Best Professor in samford! very caring and loving. he is very passionate about what he is teaching. gets emotional about specific topics. thats what makes him interesting. the tests are hard if you leave the studying for the last week! study day by day you will be fine. I recommend him big time. CP class

He think he's funny and cracks a lot of jokes but only about 50% of them actually make sense. All in all I would take him again but you have to be ready to work hard. It's not easy.

He was one of my favorite teachers! I took him for CP and loved that class. Don't get me wrong, he's tough and you HAVE to read everything he assigns because most likely you will have a quiz. But if you work hard, try, and ask for help you will do great! He makes the class very interesting!! Good luck :)

I personally would not take him for CA 101 or 102. If you work hard in his class and do well, he does like you. However, he quizzes and tests were VERY hard! You really have to memorize all these crazy details for them. If you are an average student, I would NOT take him.

Northrup is ridiculous. His everyday quizzes are difficult almost to the point of being unfair; they're hard even if you study every word of the text he assigns. He doesn't teach what all of the other profs teach; his class is strictly a history memorization class. If you're not a history major, don't even think about taking him without regret.

Northrup is a great Teacher with a challenging class that makes you think. If you want to coast through CP without working, find someone else. He gives quizzes over almost all of the reading, so be prepared. He is super nice and very understanding. Very witty and teaches a fun class.

Extremely challenging professor. if you want an easy A in CP, don't take him. If you want a course that is challenging and will benefit you on into your college career, take him. By far one of the most intelligent professors I know. Studying last minute won't cut it here though. I had him for 101 and 102 and loved it, even if i do have an A-

At the beginning of the semester, I thought he was going to be awfull, but it turned out really well! You have to read the material and pay attention...every point he makes is important! He's a very engaging professor and very funny. Participate in class...he loves it when you participate! Argue with him (as long as you can back up your argument).

Northrup's class is terrible. He is the hardest CP teacher in the school. You have a quiz almost everyday over the readings and they are difficult no matter if you read or not. His tests are nearly impossible and very very detailed. He grades his papers pretty tough as well. He expects a ton from his students and is just very very difficult overall

Be prepared for a challenge the moment you walk in the door. Do the work; you will reap the reward. His tests/quizes are difficult, but you will learn so much from him. He wants everyone to succeed. He gives people chances and forgiveness too. Plus, he is HILARIOUS.

Northrup is amazing!I thought his class was really hard and did not do very well, but learned a ton and he really helped me outside of class a lot. He really wants you to pass. Don't get me wrong i know a ton of people who think he is easy and have done amazing. But he is the funniest professor i have ever had and really nice. TAKE HIM!

Northrup made taking this course well worth it. I so enjoyed the clarity of the material, the availablility of Dr. Northrup. He is the best compare to some of the professors at Samford. I recommend this professor. Granted you are required to study and read the material and if you do that on a regular basis you will be fine.
