Comment:
Too old to be a teacher. Her teaching style is boring, her homework and weekly testing amounts are absurd. Offers no prior warning to quizzes and sometimes will announce doing something random and AFTERWARDS will announce it counts for your grade. Rude, offers no help even if you meet with her. Just really bad overall. Must put in so much effort.

Way too old to be a teacher. Her classes are boring af and she always seems aloof. Never gives feedbacks, never warns you before tests of midterms. She hands you the semester schedule at the beginning of the year and expects you to follow it. If she ever approaches you to tell you something you can be sure it's bad news.

Great professor, very close to her students. Her class is completely in Chinese, which is a good practice for your tingli. Emphasis on reading and writing for exams, a bit too much probably. Jenny is very helpful and cares about her class. Oral presentations make the course interesting and fun, if you get involved in it.

Zhang laoshi is a really sweet professor who will always be willing to help you if you have any questions. Her class is super tough so be prepared to put a lot of work into it if you want to succeed. This class is very memorization based (the written/reading component trumps the oral one completely) but provides students with A LOT of vocab.

People that take Zhang laoshi's class are serious about learning Chinese; she's really scary at first. She believes in tough love so be prepared to put a lot of work. She's a great teacher. She's actually quite sweet and has great stories. She's easy to talk to and understanding. Her classes are fun.

This is a very very hard class. If you are not prepared do dedicate at least 5-6 hrs a week outside of class to studying do not take it. She is also very very tough but you will learn a lot if you try your best to keep up. It is possible to get on her good side even if she seems unfriendly at first.

Horrible professor. She teaches material at a pace that is too fast for the amount of material she expects us to learn and as a result nothing sticks. She places too much focus on memorization of grammar that she can't explain, and not enough on the application of knowledge which is crucial to a language like Chinese. Avoid her if you want to learn

Jennie truly has a great understanding of Chinese grammar and knows how to communicate this clearly and effectively to her students. Her class requires work (obviously), but she is nothing short of fair. Simply work hard, show interest, go to class and participate, and you will do well.

She`s a great teacher that helps anyone who tries, the quizzes and exams are not meant to be hard; remember, you`re learning a language, so if you`ve had no prior exposure to it, sure, you`re going to have to study. Plays favourites? That sounds like a slacker's excuse.

Not helpful at all. Rude. Talks in class but all of it is limited to having a sheet of words and going through them on the overhead. Picks a few favourites, gives a cr-p about all the rest. Organizes events for students? yeah right.I used to think wang laoshi was a bad teacher, now I think he is the best teacher ever.

Amazing teacher. Her stories in chinese really help you with your understanding. Other comments about picking favorites isn't fair. She simply likes people who attend class and try to speak in class and who do well (i.e. actually study for class). Loves her subject and organizes Chinese events for students.

Unprepared for class generally; Wings it almost every day. Sometimes spends time to pick out interesting articles to read online. Slightly biased. Asks awkward questions that would normally be inappropriate in the classroom setting. My high school Chinese teacher was much much better.

I can respect her for being such a serious teacher. I can respect her for being honest. I can't respect her for blatantly choosing favorites and alienating everyone else, especially those that care about the subject but need help reaching the proficiency level she demands. Play by her rules or be prepared for a struggle.

She knows a lot and presents you with clear outline and objective of the course. Workload may be overwhelming at first if you are used to Wang laoshi. Quite uptight in classes but nice outside of classes. She's a good instructor in general. BUT! She picks favourites..... Doesn't like asian people(especially chinese decendants) taking her cla
