Loved this class, the professor is extremely funny and always available and willing to help with the assignments, he also grades very fairly and offers extra credit.

He is great in explaining different concepts, and I really enjoy having his classes. There are lots of homework though, you have to be patient to do all assignments. Having a study group would be very helpful!

He's literally my fave professor! You should go to class to understand the material bc the textbook isn't helpful but he is fantastic at explaining the concepts & makes everything seem interesting! His tests aren't actually hard as long as you pay attention in class & take good notes. As for the assignments, I thought they were fun and fascinating!

This teacher makes this class way more difficult than it needs to be. His tests are super hard although each is only 8 percent of ur grade. He also likes to add to study guide the day before a test. His online homework and quizzes are kind of helpful but overrated and so are his assignments. But do well on those to help ur grade

This class is not taught as a 1000 level course. You have assignments and timed quizzes every week and even though they are online, you cant find all the answers in the book or google. The exams are graded very tough. This class requires too much work for a 1000 level course. I would strongly suggest taking another science class for gen-ed.

Professor Vogl is a very caring and understanding professor. Although this i so, his class is very difficult. His lectures are not very clear, his exams are strongly based off the lectures, and the material is very confusing. I had to work extremely hard to keep an A. It was hard balancing this class with other courses.

His online presence is scarce at best. The textbook is your only source of information. He acts as a class facilitator not a teacher. Get ready to self-teach yourself everything if you take online

This class is not hard if you show up and pay attention. He bases his tests off of the lectures, which are difficult in comparison to the the rest of the assignments in class. Do well on the assignments and well enough on the tests, you'll get an A.

Extremely difficult course for all the wrong reasons. Course relies on "Smartwork" which is a glitchy software with extremely subjective and difficult questions. Assignments are unrelated to material being taught. Exams are graded so tough basically everyone fails them. Almost no help from him or TAs. There are much better and easier gen eds.

I really wish I read reviews about this professor before. His class was so incredibly difficult, especially for a 1000 level class. He changed the weight of his assignments, quizzes, homework, and exams 4 WEEKS before the semester ended. Never again will I take one of his classes. I barely scraped by with an A. Every tiny little thing counts.

I am miserable in this class. I wish I had heeded the reviews on this site and taken a different instructor. The work load is insane, his grading is unreasonable, and his assignments and exams are infuriating. I'm working harder in this 1000 level course than my 3 other 4000 level courses, and I can barely manage a C. Take someone else. Seriously.

I am taking him this semester and he and his TA's grade so harsh. He sends you a big paragraph on what the exam is about and expects you to draw it out. There is no rubric and not specific enough. He expects way too much and should teach orgo or chem. Stay away if you can help it. Ive learned nothin

ESC1000 as a whole is hands-down the most difficult 1000-level course I have ever taken because of the work load and the actual amount of content detail. Dr. Vogl was practically useless if you take the online portion as all of your work (textbook, homework, quizzes) is taken/graded in SmartWork. Tough class, barely-there professor.

This class is way too difficult and too much work for a 1000 level class. The assignments are difficult and I can never find how to do them. There are timed quizzes and lots of homework questions every week, and they require a lot of time and effort. I took this for a basic physical science credit (I'm not a physical science person) and regret it.

I would recommend this class to be taken in person and not online. Vogl is very understanding and caring for his students, but the material gets very draining to complete. DO NOT neglect/ wait til the last minute to do assignments. After the first exam, the material gets more difficult. Exams are based off his lectures, material is in book though.

All in all, this course was fairly easy. I thought the amount of work for a 1000 level course was unnecessary. The quizzes are a bit difficult. There are no exams other than very simple "concept exams" which you draw out processes and label them. I appreciated the time he took to meet with me, but sometimes he would have me figure it out on my own.

I took this class online, so it was easy to get through quizzes and exams, but this professor is so rude. He makes mind maps actual assignments, which is fine, but will take points off for the smallest and most unnecessary items. He treats a 1000 level class as a 3000 level class and takes his time too seriously.
