He is a super nice guy and will always work something out with you. There is a lot of extra credit work. Do all the extra credit work and you will easily make an A with John! The quizzes are easy and part of it is usually an essay and he tells you the topics before. Be prepared and this class will be no problem.

I took Gorman last semester for Hist. 1302 expecting a challenge because history is not my strong suit, but he made it relatively easy to understand. His reviews are exactly like the exams, and he keeps class fun. Always kind of sarcastic, too.

Professor Gorman was amazing only 3 test one online and ones the final and the reviews are exactly like the test. He also lets you make an outline for essay part of the test which helps so much. He gives extra credit after the final if you feel like you need something to help your grade a little bit, i did this and it got me an A in the class!

I SUCK at History. Just make flash cards for Test 1 and the Final. Got an 88 on first exam bc of flashcards, 85 by using quizlet on the online exam, and a 100 on the final by making flashcards. Write your exam essay as your "outline" and use it on the test! He's very leniant on ecampus due dates. Seemed a little intimidating but really easy A!

Gorman is a great teacher. I really did enjoy coming to class and listening to his lectures and some of the audios are online. He also would show movies to break things up. All of his lectures notes are online as well. He was always willing to help if I had issues and always responds immediately to emails. Would highly recommend.

All he does is talk in class so its a lil frustrating at first because u have no idea what to study or write down but don't worry it gets easier, u don't even have to come to class if ya want. There are only 3 tests and one is a take home, the other is ur final and his review is pretty much the test word for word. Quizes r all online and on quizlet

Gorman's class isn't bad if you just do the work that he asks you to do. Attendance is randomly taken but it doesn't seem like he cares about it anyway. 3 Tests, 3 essays, 6 online assignments, 3 book assignments. It sounds like a lot but it really isn't that bad. Tests follow the reviews to a dot so do the reviews. Very opinionated, but I like him

EASY A. You really don't even need to show up. Most of the class is spent talking about current events, and the last 20 percent is spent on history. Don't buy the books because they are pointless. He really stresses reading the auto bio on the puritans, but there is not one single question on it. He doesnt even read the 3 essays assigned.

He gets off subject super easy.. Hated history before his class but it was super easy! Didn't use the textbook but put ALL his notes online that matched the test directly. A TON of extra credit opportunities too. Do the little bit of work and there's no way you shouldn't pass! Highly recommended!

Smart man, Terrible Professor. Loves to talk about gun control and FDR and thats about it. Lectures do not follow the notes so its very hard to follow along in class. Jumps from different eras in history so the timeline of history doesnt go in order when he teaches. Hard to catch him in his office, but if you want to pass do the extra credit!!

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW: Class is completely lecture based. Online calendar and assignment list is hard to follow at first because its poorly organized. Attendance is taken randomly. Tests 50 questions and 3 page essay. 3 tests including final, 6 online quizzes, and 3 online essays (2 pages each). Class averages are always terrible but i managed an A

John Gorman is a good professor, clear and concise. If you study the study guide and take notes from lecture you will be fine. He's pretty relaxed with online due dates for assignments. He likes people who speak up in class and contribute so be prepared. My only complaint is that he pushes his personal political views too often.

Gorman likes to test directly from lecture. If you take good notes & use his study guide to study for tests, you will get an A. He offers extra credit so take him up on it! Talk to him, he likes communication & will like you more if you speak up. He expects you to be prepared - read the things he posts on ecampus and you're golden. He's a nice guy!

Overall a pretty good teacher. He's very nice & a cool guy, he isn't the most helpful outside of class but he gives lots of extra credit opportunities. I have no interest in history whatsoever and still managed a B. I would definitely recommend.

He is very flexible to work with & does a good job explaining what will be on tests. There is a lot of online work, but it is more a matter of staying on top of things. While he can be prone to getting off topic, he makes things interesting & really tries getting people involved. Overall his class was fairly easy & I made an A.

He is a nice person but his method of teaching is not easy to follow, he talks about things that do not go with any releavence to history and when the test comes its hard because he never really talked about it because he was always talking about football...i do not think this is an easy course and at much less if you are a freshman...

He's really easy and helpful. I took him for 1301 and 1302 and got an A in both, and I've never been super good at history. He's easy to listen to, but does get off topic. He gives detailed reviews before tests. There's online work but it's easy, you just have to do it. I would definitely reccommend!!

Gorman is awesome! He is very easy and very flexible history is my least favorite subject and i made a B in his class most of his work is online and you have multiple chances to take it. I did not study for the final at all and I got a B. He sometimes tends to be scatterbrained and get off topic but his lectures are not needed to pass the test.
