I loved Dr Johnson! Enjoyed US Constitutional History so much took an independent study course with him. Great sense of humor, makes sure you know what you need to know and is fair in grading.

Taking this class for my capstone. Honestly a lot easier than I expected. The books are short and quick reads. Test are not hard if you pay attention in class. He seems like a genuine and caring guy and is good at keeping things non-biased. Listens to everyone's opinions. He really isn't as bad as people on here make him out to be.

Johnson is my favorite history professor. He starts off class with current events, usually relating to government or sports. He's clear, helpful, and has a good sense of humor. He genuinely cares for his students. He expects a high standard. Ignore the negative reviews, I highly recommend taking Johnson over any other professor in the history dept!

He took over our class mid semester and changed everything. It was terribly boring, didn't learn anything and he expects you to write a book on somethings hes interested in.

He assigns three times the reading assignments as other professors, but you don't get three times as many credits!

There is a lot of reading for just a capstone class. Assignments are not to bad, but if you don't read then the tests can suck. Seems to want you to think more than to learn, which is a good thing sometimes. Just be open minded and you will be okay.

This class isn't tough, you spend the class period discussing current issues. There are 2 tests and then 4 papers, no final, not bad at all...the discussion format is very nice and not intimidating

When people say Johnson taught them how to write, I think they mean that they didn't know how to write and, in the process of writing Johnson's excessively long paper, they decided they somehow learned something. I guarantee you: Johnson didn't teach anyone anything.

Can't believe the amount of work for a stupid capsone class. The other section has less than half the work. 3 essays, a paper(and presentation), expects us to read 3 or 4 chapters for every class. Unclear assignments, unrealistic expectations, discussions turn to bashing, super hard tests.

Dr. Johnson is most impressive. He is completely fair- lets you explain you test answers to him for credit. I learned how to write from him, and have been published several times as a result. I would take his class 100 times over if given the opportunity. I recommend him to everyone!

what a jerk! Assigns papers that are twice as long as those required by other profs (20 pages! he can't possibly have read all 1200+ pages in the 4 days he had to grade them) Doesn't teach writing, doesn't teach anything!!! Very hard, very biased, very unfriendly, a very bad professor TIME TO RETIRE

Unhelpful and very unclear about assignments. Is an author-expects his students to be as well. His midterm test was on random information about the library and the actual class was useless. Did not learn anything.

Johnson's passion is writing. You will learn how to write from the man. I don't beleive he truly enjoys the teaching part of his job, but he is an excellent writer and teaches the craft well.

Teaches a class called "intro to history" that requries a 20-page primary-source referenced paper. The class is a complete waste of time; he taught absolutely nothing. We spent most of our time discussing unrelated stuff. His test had random questions about library staff, nothing to do with history

Dr. Johnson knows a lot about the legal profession and appreciates the history made by decisions in that field. You just have to expand your horizons and connect with his perspectives. While he doesn't deal with excuses, he's very impressed when you take the initiative to find the facts. Good prof.

Never had him as a prof, but he was head of dept. Right after my father died, he told me I would never get into grad school. Four years later, I am in grad school. This guy is %$**#.
