My class was Hamilton the Musical where John taught on Wednesdays and a theatre Prof taught on Fridays. We had to read Chernow's Hamilton and had an essay exam over it. I thought he was really nice. The class was at 9 am and I didn't fall asleep once.

Lots of lectures, grade mainly rests on discussion quizzes after lectures. Attendance isn't mandatory, you only get graded on 6 of the 10 quizzes. Funny guy, but the act gets a bit dry during lectures and makes me wanna skip. He has a vast knowledge and knows what he's talking about so class is a breeze. Exams are easy, he gives you the questions.

He made all of the lectures very interesting and fun. He would add in some jokes here and there in his lectures. His exams and finals were fairly easy. He gave you the essay questions he would ask on the exam and final a week before the tests were. Overall a great teacher!

Extremely entertaining guy - he actually made me want to come to lecture. It was like History Channel, only live and much angrier. Would recommend him to anyone!

Fairly good lecturer. I was kinda disappointed at how much he glossed over the military aspects of the wars covered, but I guess that's for a different class. He was sick for most of last semester, and missed quite a few classes, so we were stuck with TAs or powerpoints a few times, but that's not his fault. Don't hesitate to take this class.

Not a bad class, he is probably the most sarcastic person on this earth. Its funny at first, but it gets old quick. I constantly got the vibe that he was a real big ****. It was really creepy. He had a really negative view on American History. Now I know American History is not all good but he focused just too much on the negatives.

I am graduating this semester from the History Department and am mad that I just discovered Prof. Larson. He is hands down the best professor in the department. Fair grader, entertaining lecturer, great at getting the class involved, a professor you will be glad you took.

Being a female that took his class, I just want to say that I NEVER experienced any sexism in his class. He was a great professor that made history fun. It reminded me that history is a story that has all of the elements that make a truly good story: love, war, death, corruption, etc... It just takes the right person to tell the story. Larson is that person.
