So lucky to have had Dr. Treadway as my professor at UofR. He of course knew his bailiwick, but had the additional benefit of being a first class human, available and caring. But hatch out for those multiple choice questions where you might find the names of your fellow students in the mix to mislead you.

My favorite professor at the University of Richmond. Cares about the topics, and actually enjoys teaching. He will sit and chat with you about a variety of topics if you visit his office, wish i took his class more!

Excellent professor. Map quiz so you understand territory your covering and gives deeper understanding of the material incorporated. If Modern Germany, understand Germany. world war 1 or 2, look at the chaos Europe was in and understand the colonization schemes. Take him as much as possible.

He is a great guy for majors and non-majors alike! His lectures are always amusing, and also contain a lot of interesting information. They can be a bit disorganized, but that is just his style. He seems to be universally liked, and just generally a cool guy. Do your work and you will do well, no major grade pitfalls. Rated hot out of respect :P

Treadway is such a great guy! He's so funny in class and even though I am not at all interested in history, I feel like I learned a lot. Even though he says there will be many papers, you will only do a few. And as long as you pay attention in class and put the work in outside of class, you will get s good grade.

The best professor at UofR. The best Professor. Period. Dr. Treadway, I really hope you are reading this. Please don't change who you are. You make us learn and make it fun, while also making us laugh. You are more than helpful, brilliant and always willing to help those with your "can-do, will-do" attitude. Treadway is easily the best teacher I have ever had. You will learn SO much, and love learning. He has incredible stories about his life in Eastern and Southern Europe and you are hanging on every word he says. TAKE ANY AND EVERY CLASS YOU CAN WITH HIM

Dr. Treadway was and is the best lecturer, teacher, and mentor anyone could wish for. He invests in each student. No matter what your grade, you walk out of that class knowing more, enjoying history, and liking him as a person (Professor Stokes was right!). YOu might think he's off topic, but there's always a method and intent.

He's the deal. Incredibly smart guy. Cool as well as fun. You can get him side tracked on tangents because he's so engaged in the history he teaches. It was not hard for me to get an A in his history 100 class. Just do that work and raise your hand every once in a while.

Treadway is a really enjoyable professor. Like some people said, he does stray off-topic easily, but he is also really knowledgeable. His tangents are still informative about somewhat-related history. He has a really great sense of humor as well. He is a pretty easy grader.

Treadway is star history prof., Ridiculously knowledgeable, suspect he wings lectures. Charming/good natured guy and the class is flexible & easy. However,he is not for everyone-if student needs structured class, don't take. never gave us syllabus, his expectations weren't clear which added unnecessary difficulty but he'll work it out with you.

Just though I should add my 2 cents... Hist 100 was supposed to cover the entire cold war. we just got to the beginning of vietnam. i wanted to learn things in the class, but we rarely got to lectures because he'd talk about other things untill 10 min were left in the class. nicest man ever... but as a prof, i didn't learn anything!
