My mind was opened to writers and ways of thinking about writing. Every class mattered. I met other students whose writing thrilled me that were writing in different ways than I did. He knew exactly what to say to each of us as individuals to encourage us to think independently and to write with care. I will always remember his class.

Comment:

Honest, brilliant, and very accommodating. Has clear ideas about what makes good writing, and is pretty much spot-on with his critique of student work. Leads the class discussion in a way that actually facillitates learning. A real eye-opener!

He's extremely critical, but doesn't provide many suggestions for improvement. He likes to tell you what you're doing wrong, but doesn't seem to provide much info about how to improve. Can be very disheartening if you're not confident about your abilities.

Extremely helpful, meticulous, lives writing. Has tons of experience to draw from; is very open minded. The way he speaks may be off-putting @ first, but that's just the way he speaks. Clearly, he puts so much time + effort into each student. He has opinions, but that doesn't mean he's open minded.
