One of the humorous professor and extremely funny.Mostly talk about other things than database but the things that he discuss are very useful. No problem getting good grades just do your assignments 100%.

Nice guy; easily distracted & goes off on tangents. I managed to learn something about DBs. He's quite smart. You have to refocus him to get your questions answered. Learn how to filter out information through the insanity. We had DB professionals in the class to assist when he strayed off topic. A lot of learning is on your own.

Ok, here is the deal.!! He does not teach anything. However, you will not have a hard time to pass his class; you will get a B at least from that class without knowing anything, so it is under your decision to find out whether you need to learn from that class, or just to get the freaking grade from that class. Prof late to class (sometimes a 1/2 hour, goes off the topic, ends classes early, did not finish the material needed (I wasn't prepared for the next course I needed to take). He seems like a smart man and knows C but has a hard time transferring that knowledge to his students.

Terrible class, had to teach myslef and even then I feel like I didn't learn enough. It was painful going to his classes. He had technical difficulties attempting to show us examples. It was real nightmare. Take at your own risk....

First of all,i've got B- on this class,and that's not the reason why i write rating.The fact that he did nothing except bad joke and not funny at all in class time, not even write a small query in DATABASE.Just read and repeat whatever from a super old Oracle document(198..). I cant stand with this class, that's why i inform for future students.

This professor is fun and usually somewhat entertaining, he knows the material well but often gets sidetracked. I knew java prior to taking this course which was probably my saving grace. If you dont know java or any other programming languages there is a good chance you will have trouble.

Shows up late, takes long breaks, spends most of class off the subject, went 8 weeks into semester and had only gone over 2 chpts, lazy, makes inappropriate comments, no help on programs, complains about book all thru class, if you can teach yourself the material you will do fine. Very laid back and interesting. Presents the material in a clear-cut manner. This is a class where you teach yourself most of the material - like any other programming class. I would definitely recommend Dr. Giarratano.
