Extremely tough grader, wants an entire play to be read in a week. The quizzes are easy as long as you read the plays but the grading for the essays are ridiculous. His feedback does not help and is put in a sarcastic manor. Definitely the hardest professor I've ever had here at NJCU

I do not recommend this class to anyone. He excepts everyone to be obsessed with Shakespeare just like he is. Unfair grader, tough exams, and expects way too much. Feedback is often sarcastically said, in a way that does not help you progress.

Basile's class is tough and I mean one of the toughest classes I've taken in NJCU. He takes Shakespeare very seriously and expects that from his students too! You will read a lot of plays and write lots of papers. He is a tough grader so make sure you pay attention and jot down what he expects in each paper

I really liked Basile! I see a lot of whiny crybabies in the comments below me. Clearly, they did not put in enough effort. He is very straightforward: read the weekly assignment and prepare for a very easy quiz. He always stresses that he is more than happy to go over papers before they're due, so if you get a bad grade, it's really on you, kid.

It's a miracle when he doesn't give homework but usually it's pretty easy (2-4pgs). he loves giving handouts and you will need them everyday for class. The majority of the passages he gives aren't interesting. can be very condescending and frequently asks rhetorical questions (very annoying). sometimes unclear with what he wants in the homework

Horrible english comp professor. He is also an unfair grader. He's super corny and weird too. He is the worst english professors i'v EVER had. Will NEVER recommend him to anyone. even if you work really really hard and attend all his classes, he will still give you a very very low grade.

Tough but a dedicated professor. Heavy reading load and writing load especially when taking him for Shakespeare. He takes Shakespeare very seriously and expects you to also. Be prepared. I was disappointed in my grade , I went to every class and did all my work but he expects a specific attention to detail in the essays that I didnt bring.

fun class. just read, take a quiz (easy as long as you read), watch movie and discuss. assignments (for my class, anyway): one paper, one creative project, and a quiz for each reading. interesting discussions. grades fairly. books can be found in the library, and even if you buy it, youll have time to return it.

GREAT CLASS!! He makes it interesting with discussion and videos. I doubt many other professors make it better without making the class a joke. He does have lots of reading to do though. With one week between classes it isn't hard either. His tests are short and simple. As long as you do the reading it is hard to fail his classes. Also be prepared to write long, detailed essays

I hit it off with this cat right away. He'll work a Simpsons reference into a talk about Beowulf. Good feedback on papers. Reasonable quizzes. Heavy reading load though. You'll put in time for his class, but you'll get something out of it. Not pretentious.

i thought this class would be hard, but it was not. theres alot of reading sometimes, but other than that the class is great. he lets you do your papers two times in order to fix your mistakes. i would love to take him again.
