He oversees the secondary science education program. Why I do not know. He does not know the students or how the program is run. If you have a problem with the student teaching program good luck getting any satisfaction out of him. He told me that he would only help me if I was nice to him, I wasn?t and he didn?t.

Prof Pika is a great guy, extremely knowledgeable, and keeps things interesting. He can be a hard paper grader, but his exams make up for that. He's worth your time and effort and is one of the gems of the Poli Sci Dept. I would definitely recommend him.

he does not take attendance at all. he gives pop quizes and if you miss them then you get a zero for that quiz. 6 quizes in all counts 4 or 5 of them. if you take notes and read the book should do alright. he gives every oppotunity to get an A. optional final. nice guy, very intelligent, knows his politics, and helpful

easy 400-level course, read 4-5 books, one blue book exam, 2 papers, take-home essay...not bad. interesting class discussions, pika is very open, friendly, a fine professor. davy the t.a. was very helpful, and much more involved than most t.a.'s who usually don't do a damn thing.

i took 407 with pika. my best friend also took the class. she is a liberal like him. i am a conservative. we both had 90-ish grades going into the final. we collaborated on the (take home) final & therefore handed in similar papers. she got an A in the class and i got a B. neither of us ever saw our final exam "grades." take from what what you want

Disappointed to see so many harsh criticisms of Pika.He's not the easiest prof come test time, but does everything short of giving out cheat sheets so you can pass Anyone with negative comments is just lazier than a college student can be and expect to get a degree. He's a great prof if you have any interest in politics, if not,don't take poli sci.

BORING!!! look to your left and to your right, your friends will be sleeping. Pika started using powerpoint this semester, however it dosn't help much come time for the test. you have to know poli sci before the class to do well. reading from the book and the notes may not help enough. HINT: only take if NEEDED.

Gives pop quizes so you have to go to every class, but classes are so boring it feels like a sick joke. Study guides are long and sometimes unclear; class notes are unclear; tests are REALLY hard. Also, he's a jerk who assumes we know asmuch as he does. STAY FAR AWAY

Knows his stuff and doesnt realize he is teaching a intro course. Half his lectures mine as well be in another language. Gives a descent study guide but wont respond to emails if you have questions about some of the terms on it because "you werent paying attention during class" or "you must have been skipping class" I would try to find someoneeasie

i studied hard and ended up with a c. i was never bored during his lectures, and held him in the highest respect, but when it came to dealing with him on a personal level i found him condescending and insensitive, unnecessary. i have to say that this shattered my respect and admiration for him. and really...hard tests.
