I took this class online with Dr. Sengupta. It is pretty straightforward, a little dry, but expectations are clear from the start. It is pretty fast-paced, so you should be prepared to get a decent amount of work done in a short amount of time, but there is no reason you shouldn't be able to get everything done on the timeline provided.

Really liked this course. A lot of work, reading, assignments, quizzes, discussion forums, etc. but it was well organized and clearly scheduled and known in advance. He was responsive and gave feedback - clearly read what we wrote. He didn't cushion anything - warned it was going to be a difficult, intense course in an accelerated window of time.

Be ready to read, participate, and do HW. No formal exams but there are a handful of quizzes. Final paper was easy enough to write- no research. Multiple HW assignments due weekly that required in-depth reading of text. Not a harsh grader, but you needed to show effort and some understanding. Not a bad class to take online.

I took his distance learning Supply Chain mgt. course and it was extremely tedious. The amount of work was equal to a full-time job. SO if you're working and plan on taking a DL course, I would not recommend this one. This class is NOT an easy A. Only take this if you need it or are interested in a career in this field. Otherwise, stay away.

3 tests, 3 online quizzes, 2 papers and lots of extra credit. Online quizzes can be taken twice, tests are open book, final is optional, lenient grader on papers. Overall, a pretty easy class. Not very interesting but you can spend the entire class on the computer. I did and I still got an A. Buy the textbook so you can ace the quizzes and tests.

Comment:

Prof Sengupta is a textbook teacher. He has a syllabus that he follows to the t (even during summer session). He goes over everything in class but expects it to be read beforehand. Case studies feel objective but there is a "right" way to answer them. He is a fair grader and if you ask nicely, he usually turns the midterm and final into a takehome!

Tests are open book so we all don't pay attention at all and surf the net the whole time. BAD IDEA!!! tests are freaking hard. Hardest tests in the MGT dept. The optional final is the saving grace. Take this class with him, but don't make the same mistake I did... PAY ATTENTION!

oh my god this guy might be easy but his tests even though open book, are frekin the hardest tests I have ever tooken in my life. His exams are based on the unimportant stuff in the lecture. for ex: why did the boston red socks score a 10? I mean come on we cant take a test on stuff you have in a conversation.
