This class overall is a tough class no matter who you take it with. I am glad however that I took it with Kelly. There are HWs for every chapter which are much harder than the tests, but doable. Projects were annoying but not too difficult. Study the old exams he posts, understand the material and you'll be fine.

Kelly Welch is one of my favorite professors at KU. He loves what he does which makes learning possibly dry material somewhat interesting . The way he calls on random students in class creates an engaged learning atmosphere. He clearly lays out what is expected and what you need to do to get an A. I'd take more classes from him but I took them all.

Kelly is a decent teacher, the material is very difficult and hard to sit through especially if you are not a finance major. Be prepared to be called on randomly during lecture to answer questions. The homework wasn't bad just time-consuming. Tests are difficult so study the his old test files and you'll be fine.

Professor Welch's class was extremely organized and there were no surprises. The exams were difficult, but the material is difficult.. He does a great job of making class matters relate to things going on in the real world and is good about making sure you know what's going to be on exam. Go to all review sessions!! Would definitely take again

Really nice guy, go to class and he gives the answer to the pop quizzes. The tests require a lot of studying but he provides a lot of useful study resources.

Kelly loves what he does and tries to be enthusiastic but his lectures are so so boring. He'll call on you at random to make sure you're paying attention. Gives out easy quiz points but get ready for a ton of formulas that are worthless after this class... have fun. Good luck staying awake.

Kelly Welch is a solid professor. He is enthusiastic about teaching and it shows. Unfortunately the lectures are incredibly boring and he does call on people throughout each class. Make sure to study for the final though. I did well enough that I just needed a 70 on the final to end with an A- in the class and I got a 66 and ended with a B+. Study!

Kelly really wants his students to succeed, and gives you all the tools needed to succeed. Hard to an A but decently easy to get a B or C. Go to his extra credit review sessions, and make it through his lectures. They are pretty boring, but it's important you go.

This class was easy..I stopped paying attention in lecture but still managed to do perfectly fine. All of the blackboard homework is on google somewhere. The projects are a little hard to understand but they're loosely graded. The tests are all based on the practice questions he posts so as long as you know those you'll be fine.

Similar class structure to FIN 310, he provides the old test files which helps with studying. Attendance is necessary. Textbook workbook will be required as homework assignments are due approximately every other week. Homework assignments are long but not hard. Overall, pretty easy A. The course material is genuinely interesting also.

The first 2 tests were super easy. so expected the final to be the same way- absolutely not the case. Final was extremely difficult with problems that were never taught in class.

Kelly is a great professor. He's very nice and wants his students to succeed. If you do the homework, his tests are very easy. If you are in his honors class, expect to be called on frequently to answer questions. You will learn a lot. I would take this class again. The textbook is not necessary. I never opened it and received an A in the class

Really straight forward and i found his lectures to be interesting but i also enjoy finance so it may vary by your interest. As long as you put forth effort and go the the weekly reviews with your TA you will get an A. When it comes to the exams just study the previous exams and you will do great.

The lectures are boring but of no fault of him. he really does a good job to make it engaging, just finance sucks. YOU MUST go through every practice test when preparing for a test. I didn't for the first 2 (just studied 1) and did very poorly. I got a 62% on the first test. on the final I got an A. questions are the same on practice tests as real.

Kelly is a great guy. He will help you if you reach out. However, his lectures are long and he reads off powerpoint slides the whole time. There is a quiz almost every other class. 3 tests, multiple choice, calculations for each one. Projects are a piece of cake. You can do it!

Lectures are the most boring thing you'll ever experience. Did really bad on the first test, but quickly realized he uses the same questions from previous tests(which he post on blackboard). If you want to do well in this class, study the OLD test, go to every class (for quiz grade), do all the homework. If I made it through, you can too.

Kelly has an interesting teaching style (utilizes the socratic method to an extent), but his class is still hard to sit through. Getting a good grade is fairly simple if you take the time to do all of the online homework, projects, and study the provided test files for the exams. I can imagine that as a teacher he thrives in a smaller setting.

Kelly makes fin 310 about as easy as possible. If you can't handle this class, then finance/math is not your strong point. Having him in higher level finance classes opens you up to his real personality and his expertise. Highly recommend taking portfolio strategy from him for finance majors. Kelly might be the best finance professor at KU
