He basically takes a "lecture" and puts it on paper and PPT. The book used is written by him and another professor several years ago and VERY outdated. It's true that you are basically teaching yourself but as long as you put the effort in, you should be alright grade wise but no feedback really so who knows if you're learning the right thing

He's a great guy! Always willing to guide you to success, but you got to be willing to put in the work to succeed in his class! He doesn't care for people who don't put in effort and your grade will reflect it. He's a easy grader if sees you tried your best even if you've done an assignment incorrectly.

I don't recommend his online class. He doesn't "teach". He puts information out there and expects you to figure it out for yourself. He is not very involved in the online class discussions and doesn't give clear instructions or answers. The only teaching that went on in his class was me teaching myself.

I have had this professor for a few classes and one was OK but really boring. However his teaching styles in the other classes made it very difficult and even though he said he was willing to help you he does not.

Mansfield is very knowledgeable about this field. He does not use a textbook for 124 online. He gives web resources and sometimes that can be confusing. Overall though I loved the class. Very informative, learned a lot. Mansfield addresses concerns and answers emails timely.

Labs can be harsh as he likes to make you struggle as you learn more that way. Pretty generous grader and will extend labs. Exams are open book and notes. Lectures can be boring mostly due to the material. I would recommend this instructor for both courses listed.

LOVED this class. Learned real life information, such as what the north bridge on a computer exactly does. Papers were written on new technologies, which are always exciting. Labs were fun as well, such as making chips do voice synthesis.

this guy was real cool, i liked him. he was kinda wishy washy. i dont know if everyone else got what was going on in his lectures, i didn't. his labs were so FREAKIN easy. i loved it. and we played around and crimpted CAT5 and UTP cable all class!

WORST Teahcer I had. He hated the class. Told us he was our manager and fired us on a weekly basis. Most students dropped out. Would tell you, you failed a test when you turned it in and he didn't even look at it yet. Would fail on COMMENTS in a program
