Feil is one of the nicest but toughest professors I've had. This was my last semester at Emerson, and this was not an easy course like I hoped. I know it sounds bad, but whatever. Meeting w Feil is essential, because he is much more specific than he is in class. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE WITH THIS CLASS, you will regret it.

Comment:
Assigns difficult work and grades very critically. Media Crit has a reputation for being a killer course - taking Ken Feil's section makes it even tougher to pass. A class with Feil definitely has the potential to knock down your GPA, but if you end up with him, do all the reading (including all extra credit options) and go to office hours.

Ken is an amazing professor. He takes interesting topics and presents them in an accessible way. His classes are very hands on and never dull. His work is reasonable and well spaced out while also challenging you. He's very understanding and leads great lectures and he's a hottie, so you really can't go wrong.

Sex Comedy: 50s to present as a great class. Your grade is very much dependent on your writing skills, attendance and participation. Ken was a great help throughout and you couldn't ask for a more knowledgable professor to learn the subject from.

Ken's a great but tough professor. He expects a lot from you but the lectures are descent enough and he's very well spoken and makes the dull material approachable. The paper's are intimidating at first but he gives you a lot to work with and extensive notes on the draft, like multiple pages of specific notes that are tremendously helpful later.

Decent teacher, very willing to help, but has horrible office hours. He doesn't seem to want to meet students outside his office hours. I could rarely make his office hours and he did nothing to help me outside of that time frame. He also didn't seem to want to answer questions in his email. But it wasn't a bad class considering it was 8 AM.

One of the best professors I have ever had at Emerson. He really wants you to do well and will be above and beyond happy if you do. He is very helpful and always wants to see students at office hours. He's pretty laid back, just turn off your phone. It's the one thing he seems to REALLY hate and also, cell phones are just annoying.

A great teacher! Made the class really fun and interesting. He knows a lot about theory and tries hard to make it easy to comprehensible. Shows a lot of movie/TV clips and if you have any problems early on talk to him. He's also really interested in the opinions of the class. Overall great teacher!

Ken is a wonderful professor who is clearly knowledgeable of media theory. VM200 is a challenging class, but the workload isn't so bad. As long as you study and pay attention in class, you'll do fine on the exams. Submit multiple drafts of your essays, and you're guaranteed at least a B. Definitely see him during office hours--he's very helpful!

One of the best professors at Emerson. Ken's approach to media studies is highly effective, in that he crystallizes many complex, highly theoretical concepts into comprehensible (but still very rich) lectures, discussions, and examples. He is a supportive and enthusiastic mentor, highly professional, and friendly.

One of the most professional, knowledgable and helpful professors I've had at Emerson. Dr. Feil's lectures were astute and interesting, his choice of screenings/class demonstrations insightful and informative. I have even gone to him for help on projects that didn't pertain to his class. An asset to any institution and an all around great person.
