This guy is the reason I majored in political science. Extremely intelligent and always goes out of his way to be objective. We always used to debate his political leanings in class before he showed up. Hope he's still teaching here... or somewhere. He's also a political commentator for CN8. Awesome!

Comment:

He is very interesting and takes great interest in his subject. The class started off easy, then once we hit the Stat material it was extremely difficult. He is available for help. Great guy, but sometimes he talks and I have no idea what he's talking about--he's just on a completely different knowledge-plane than everyone else.

Comment:

Brilliant man and takes an interest in each student if you make even the smallest effort. He is extremely fair when talking about politics which I greatly appreciated. His class is not a piece of cake - which it shouldn't be - but you really walk away with a deep understanding of the subject and various issues. Highly recommended.

The only professor in the department who truly makes an effort to be available to help you outside of class. He's more than willing to talk to you about advising or your career plans. Brillant, highly accessible and amicable.

Comment:

Dr. Butler is a great professor and while not easy, his classes are usually very rewarding in terms of the overall knowledge that you learn. The best political science teacher I have ever had and I would in a second, take another course of his. Very interesting professor and though he can be dry at time, it is not unbearable.

Throughout the semester the work is VERY managable and seems easy. The classes are boring, but that's because the subjet matter is pretty boring. Things pickup once you get to the math part. Try to stay ahead with the research paper. He is more than willing to help you for all of the work.

Brilliant guy and great teacher. Very clear on assignments, workload is manageable, and will help students with anything but doesn't give good grades for no work. You have to go to class and give an effort. Classes are very interesting if you're interested in politics or government.

Really nice and SMART GUY! Light work load only 3 short(2 page)papers and a take home final. Lectures a lot but he knows what he's talking about. Take him and you will learn something regardless if you want to or not!

perfect teacher for this class. he's worked in washington and knows the deal. ask him questions...he will answer, at great length. oh yeah...turn off your cell phone - he's sensitive.
