Laura is a great teacher. As dept head, she has a clear vision for what a photo major's overall experience should be. As a classroom teacher, she is thoughtful and tough, but always clear and direct with her comments. She always pushes her students to think critically about their work, even if it is abstract. She's also a master sequencer.

Likes landscapes or still lifes and that's it. Closed-minded. Very stuck in her ways. Obsessed with technical skills over and above everything else. That's all fine and well, but art school isn't trade school, now is it?

Great, interactive teacher. She has a very characteristic way of showing you how images work by editing them on the wall, placing them next to each other in different ways. Very critical, which is a good thing. I'm a huge fan. Only people who don't do their work will have a bad time...

Laura is talented and knows her stuff, but she was a little too cold for me. I like my teachers to have a little bit of human in them, and Laura was just the epitome of Photo to me--with a stick up her you know what. She had little to no sense of humor and wasn't really interested in what made the students' hearts beat, just that their photos were perfectly contrasted or color blanaced. Not to say that's not extremely important, but it's not the only thing that matters. She was irritating.

I never got credit for this course and, as a result, had to take legal action to graduate. I more than fulfilled class requirements, but because I was critical of the curriculum, I was forced out of the dept. by this teacher (also dept. head).
