Comment:

Dr. Steele is an amazing professor and is one of the best online instructors I have ever had. This course was 8 weeks, and while there was quite a bit of material to get through, her course packet (which is only about $20!) was very informative and helpful. She is also available to answer any questions which is key to a good online course.

Comment:

Online classes are very organized and instructions clear. If there is ever anything you don't understand or you want to know why you received a grade for something she is more than happy to promptly provide a write up of all that you would need to work on to receive the grade you are desiring. I would highly recommend her, especially for online.

This was a Block 2 course, so in 8 weeks, we had 4 exercise sets and 4 tests. That's it. All of the material needed is found in the course packet, which only costs around $20. Making an A is very easy if you complete all the exercise sets and highlight things for the test.

Dr. Steele is amazing. I'm currently taking her for History of the English Language, and had her for Grammar and Usage several semesters ago. She is one of the most helpful teachers I've ever taken. She explains things in a way that makes it both fun and informative. She does go on tangents, but they usually end up helpful rather than distracting.

Comment:

Very subjective on essays. Made A's and B's on tests, but C's on every essay. I met the criteria for the essay, exceeded in some areas, but she didn't like my voice- or style of writing. She also does not give individual feedback on essays. Just the rubric with check marks. Would not recommend if you have another option. Essays ended up being 60%.

Can we please just talk about how fantastic Dr. Steele is? Not only is Dr. Steele brilliant, she is extremely helpful and eager to work with her students. She has a great personality and makes class enjoyable. Definitely take Dr. Steele. AVOID CARRELL AT ALL COSTS!

Do not take this class. Apparently this professor is out of touch with business. I wrote a Job description for this class after performing the job for 8 years and made a 44. Thanks for noting. Oh and I have written something like a proposal for work and she didn't like it. I should have dropped the class. only 3 assignments and it sucked.

Linguistics. I had heard that this was a ridiculously hard class, but Dr. Steele really made it much easier. I put a 2 for Textbook Use, but that is because the class was online and I was pretty much learning the same stuff from History of the English Language. I've had her a few times now, and she is consistent in her testing.

This was a great class. The subject matter was something I feared going in, having not had a Grammar class in 6 or 7 years, but she explained everything in a way that--if you take good notes--makes it clear. I recommend her and am currently in her American Lit to 1865 class. Also one I would recommend taking with her.

Dr.Steele is an easy A. But besides that she is, in my opinion, intolerable. She isn't mean at first, but she can be very rude. Instead of handing out questions to think about over readings, she waits until you get in class and then asks a very vague question "what did you think of what you read?" It doesn't matter what YOU think.

I did not enjoy this class at all. I hate literature...and her styles of teaching did NOT help me enjoy it any more. She is a nice lady, her class is fairly easy--assuming you know how to write papers in MLA format (which is about the only thing she cared about in papers). She was kind of rude when you stated opinions tests are multiple choice. :/

To begin with, yes she grades essays very harshly but you get better with time which is what she wants from you. She is very enthusiastic about the material and her tests are relevant, being exactly what was studied with no surprises. Very nice and open to different opinions!

Dr. Steele is an easy A. That's all I can say for her. She started the semester with the "This is the hardest class you'll ever take" talk, and it ended up being a waste of time. She means well, but she will not teach you anything. Take Dr. Carrell or Dr. Macy if you want to learn, not Dr. Steele.

She's a really good teacher. She answered every question I had clearly, which was REALLY helpful. Her assignments were easy to complete and we turned them all in online. Grades easily. She likes you to me in class and to be there on time. She's also a little eccentric, but I loved her discussions.
